MTB Himachal 2006, the second edition of India’s first mountain bike ride and race starts off today. The event was flagged off from Shimla today and will finish on the 13th of October at Manali.
The second edition of MTB Himachal promises to be bigger, better and exciting. Nine days of Classic Mountain Biking through interior trails of the Himalayan foothills in Himachal. The total kilometers of the course this year have increased; covering 650kms in nine days with a peak altitude of 3600mtrs and 12000mtrs of total elevation gain.
The course winds its way through single tracks, double tracks, broken tarmac, tarmac and some time just footpaths. There are long downhill's and grueling uphill's, as there are straight stretches, there are sections of hike and bike and there are sections of fast paced gravel roads. There is a lil bit of everything for riders of all initiations (Mountain bikers, Road riders etc.), not just dirt roads and single tracks.
