I don't think you can straight away sue them unless you have all the legal copyrights coz if you do so I am sure that Indianexpress's lawyers would easily win the case and maybe they would file a "defamation case" on you. If you are seriously think of something, better contact some copyright lawyer!

So far I have written to both of them, demanding an apology, if they don't heed up, I'll surely contact a copyright lawyer. In any case the article was entirely written and then published by me and we do have a strong terms of service already present on the site. In any case, there are more ways of dealing with these types of crooks.

Shame on Soli Seth's such act....
Yogesh this is one of the reason that asked you to send your blog to travel magzines and papers so that you can get it published in your name and if not published then atleast you have a proof that you mailed to some company regarding the blog for publication, on a specified date. |

Arvinder, we are a sorry bunch! There is a scandal overseas about the number of Indian PHD theses that are plagiarized from other peoples' works!

Those who have Digg accounts, please digg this story, Clubfootloose and Soli Sethi are rip-offs!
Arvinder it would be a real shame if I had to get my articles/travelogues printed in a magazine for me to be able to call them my own! In any case thieves like Soli Sethi will never have what I have, that is the ability to write my own article, so while he bask in his 2 minutes of fame and a lifetime of shame, I'll keep on writing articles to help fellow travelers. Wait for the version 2 of the Ladakh Travel Guide, which would be better, more accurate and more comprehensive than the current one. |

Dear Yogesh
I never meant that one should get the articles published just to prove their ownership. But if you are doing a good work out here then there is no harm in getting it hard-copied, after all you have earned it. This will serve atleast two purpose: 1-Such people like Soli Sethi will know that your articles are already getting published in papers and there is no point steeling them. Even if he does so people will know that these are someone else's articles. 2-The more you will be noticed in print media there are chances to get sponsors for biking trips in and around India. Ofcource the choice is very personal. |

This is really bad.
And i doubt you'd get a response on mail, Yogesh. Think you should start calling them up. And a pox and a hex and a vodoo curse on Soli Sethi. |

I tried checking up the law on this - so long as the work is published under your name, you have a copyright over it - there is no requirement of "obtaining" a copyright over it. Further, one needs to prove that your work had been published under your name prior to the date of infringement.
