Can we please formulate a policy for teaser posts? Let's lock them, make them temp sticky for three days, following which they are un-stickied and bump off anonymously.

Idea:
a. It prevents BCMT from being yet another forum for junta to include in their spamlist.
b. It prevents the scenario that one guy spends two minutes, and everyone oohs aahs congratulates for ten days.
c. My ideal perspective on this is tyagi saab- runs his own club, yet has due contributions on bcmt as well.
d. and most importantly, a teaser is good only for a couple of hours. If our man has more pressing tasks, let him/her finish it and only then post. There is a value of the time spent by members.

Hitanshu, I agree with you. I also feel similarly about thread starters posting a couple of pics a day & stretching out the experience to over a couple of months. I can understand a week or ten days but indefinitely - well, well....

It does get the thread the maximum number of views though because all of us are logging in & viewing it every day versus in one shot or over, say a week.

DISCLAIMER: My views only

Yes, me too agree. There should be a time limit for finishing a log. If you are busy then finish your job at hand and then post. But while posting, either post it at a go or within a reasonable span of time, say a week.

I am in complete agreement with what Hitanshu has said about teasers.

I had jokingly even given it a 'name' - Adam Teasing!
It only spread as a malaise and is becoming almost an insult to other members and making mockery of their time and compliments!

Yes we need a policy on this.

1) I am glad that u brought up this topic hitanshu ..... We come across innumerous threads here where ppl will post a few of pictures and leave members drooling over them for a couple of days ....And then be back after ages ...Or sometimes dosent. I dont know whether it is done for 'most views' or for the fact that the thread is alwayz in news, or for 'more compliments', but it sure is irritating.

2) Likewise, I agree that a policy shoud be imposed, and as far as possible it should be ascertained that a travelogue is posted in whole rather than in parts ... Honestly speaking i dont know what sticky is, but if a private section is provided to the user for updations/editions and additions (as per the user) and then after completion the user may post. Every member would benifit from this.

3) Due to the increase amount of "Only Photos" log, where the member exhibits his photography skills.... we can have a "PhotoLog" section added in the varoius travelogues categories separately/or perhaps have a policy where ppl should give relevant info/description/a small detail on the capture, and post them all at "One Go" (With the help of the privacy explained in point 2 ). If a person has time to post photos, then he/she also has time to write a few lines on the photos.

No offences to anyone....

doesn't really make any difference, only makes the main page of the thread a little heavier to load. Secondly not everyone has internet at home, here a lot of the people use free office time to post, so it might or might not be possible for everybody to upload all the pics and then post here in one go. Rather, what we can do is ask the member (or the mods) to edit and compile all the "bits and pieces " of his/her travelogue on the front page of the thread once he/she is done with posting all parts of his/her travelogue.

obviously, a small description would always be helpful.

Agree with what Sunil has said, plus I kind of like reading the travelogue as it is being written, kind of gets suspense building on what happens next.

Of course, it should all be done in a respectable time frame, however we can not arm twist an individual to write when other priorities in life take precedence.

I get your point Yogesh, true that we cannot arm twist. But I believe the option for "freely posting whenever u feel like".., should not be taken for granted,.....plus i personally prefer reading logs at one go and not waiting for them....Just a personal opinion!

A very valid point but taking a couple of months to post a travelogue spanning a couple of weeks is a little too much I feel. We have them - progressing by a few pictures a week. Awesome pictures no doubt but I don't see the point. I'd much rather hold my breath for three weeks & then see the travelogue being put up, pictures & all, over a period of a week.

The suspense bit mentioned by Yogesh is also true but how long can that suspense hold - surely not a month! And that too, if there's really no incident justifying that suspense, then it all becomes like zzzzzzz..... - doesn't it?

No offense to anyone, just my personal opinion.

Agree here. for example 4 bikes went to Marsimik La, and they have not returned on the forum here. Maybe that guy is waiting for internet connection access at Marsimek La, and then he will post
