Re: Which articles would you like to see on BCMTouring?
Hi Yogesh,
I would like a Garage session thread for Motorcycles.
Minor problems that we commonly face on Indian Roads which is mostly common to all bikes.
So that we can do the needful without getting stranded.
This inability is a major reason for me to avoid doing Solo Rides.
Otherwise I was very keen on Doing Jaipur for Elephant Festival as preference over Udaipur's Mewar Festival.
Such TO DO / HOW TO Articles would be priceless to a Touring Website and bring in incredible Traffic through not only Google but other sites linking to BCM Touring site.

You mean like the one on Clean and Lubricating motorcycle chain?
I have been thinking of stuff like that for a while now, would surely try and write more regarding it.

Re: Which articles would you like to see on BCMTouring?
Yogesh,
I am replying to a very old post... yet it is meaningful if you find suggestions worth.
1. Start a new section for Maps...well categorized on States, interests (Off-roading/trekking/destinations etc)
2. Start a new section on adventure sports .. its gearing up in India.. include guides on destinations of rafting, trekking, mountaineering, paragliding, scuba diving, bungee jumping etc... i m sure people wud love to pour in their experiences...
I feel BCMT is restricted to Bikes though not fully but majorly... expand the horizon of BCMT.. You'll have to do lot of brainstorm to categorize these stuff.. but i m sure with inputs from others as well, you'll do that successfully & precisely..
cheers

Amit that is only possible once there is large enough database of routes and maps to enable us to do that. An attempt was started in this direction a while back with the map forum and once we have the large enough database, we will certainly start categorizing them in different sections.

I initially wanted to combine Hiking and Trekking forum with adventure travel, however later decided against it. however if there are enough people who are interested in that section and are willing to contribute with tips etc. I would certainly love to introduce it.

That is our major strength and greatest weakness, we are trying to fix this situation, however it would only improve once every one starts sharing their travel experiences, irrespective of mode of transport. I guess we need an active effort in this direction, my first step in this direction would be my next trip, which I would do using the public transport.

You already are in possesion of some good maps.. scan them & post.. request others to share what they have in their possession...

The key to all successful portals is their member base... you'll have to work on it... why not you consider some road shows ?? You already have such a good infobank on Ladakh to start with... Others will add for sure once members are large in number..

I have been to more than 150 places in India.. Amarkantak, Pachmarhi, Goa, Auli, Narkanda, Chail, Nainital, Chudadhar trek to name few good ones.. Do rafting every year, one trek every year, one long trip every year, apart from short 3 days trips every second month.. but didnt paste any photos/travelogue here for 2 reasons :
1. I find this a forum of Bikers, actually bikers are actively participating, others register for some info (get attracted by ladakh as I did) & then rarely look back once they are thru.. but all bikers participate actively... I didnt do many trips on bike.. only used to go to Mussoorie on my bike that too 4 years back ..
2. All my older photos are in hard copy, scanning more than 5000 Pics is a tedious task.. only last two years' are in digital form... Also I am not habitual of writing travelogues.. May be once we meet ( I am also in Gzb) i'll give few to you & you can do the needful ...
