Even the quote button is not required. You can simply select and copy text on ANY post!

I Think We Should be Democratic To Allow The Edit Button For The Poster To Edit If The Member So Wishes To Desire...

It Would be The Most Done Thing...

Booobooo, think about it. If it was allowed to edit posts any time the user wanted, for posterity, it would completely destroy the chronological sanctity of all content!

If editing is required after the lapse of the edit button, it is granted on a per case basis.

That is good. However, its about individual freedom of speech/whims/fancies versus chronological sanctity - who wants that anyways? Not me.

I Agree With Hitanshu...

I Do Not think it would change the sanctity of a post.

Responsible behaviour would require that one stands by what one has said. The freedom to go and change it after a few weeks or months would lead to a lot of needless arguments about what HAD been said earlier and the poster will possibly DENY that he had ever posted such a thing!

Archives will need to be maintained to store every change made to each post. Needless amounts of moderation will be required to keep it all from becoming completely chaotic!
Then, Moderators' decisions will be called into question. Perhaps voting will be suggested, or having a poll!!

In short, a complete no no.

At least that is the way I see it.
Personal whims and fancies have their time and place, but I do not believe that a public forum is that platfrom. There are chatrooms and many other equivalent fora wherein those urges can be fulfilled!

Re: Cannot edit my own posts
Members can edit their posts for up to 24hours, beyond which it is only a rarity that one would want to edit it and if it is the case, one can contact the moderation team and they will do it on your behalf.

With regards to freedom of speech, we practice it to the best of our ability as you can see in the forum. However freedom of speech does not mean saying something one day and after the flame war has started, backtracking from it.

What I Meant Was...Yogesh...This Editable Freedom Allows One To Add Or Update His Findings Etc.

Why Would Anyone Ruin His Post...If So, Too Bad That The Person Was Not Meant To Be...
