Photography contest length
In the past couple of contests, the submission of photographs was allowed for two weeks and then a week was dedicated to voting.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to allow people to submit photographs for three weeks, followed by one week of voting (voting is also allowed during submission phase).
There are couple of benefits I see in this:
1. It would provide an opportunity to the people to not only dig through their past photographs, but also go out and click some more with the contest in mind.
2. It would make the competition a monthly affair and would thus be easier to manage and promote.
What you guys think?

Perfectly acceptable, and more logical.

Re: Photography contest length
i would say let people submit photographs for three weeks... but dont allow voting in this time frame.. let everyone vote in the one week dedicated to voting..
it will give equal opportunity for all the photos to be viewed by all..

Actually that is very true. It'll probably be more fair.
And I'd like to suggest that the photos be visible like 8 to 10 per page for voting purposes. This will make it a lot easier and ensure that everyone goes through the lot.

Re: Photography contest length
But how many would be willing to vote for 100+ photographs in the course of one week, especially when they have already viewed almost all of the photographs? Also number of votes doesn't have a bearing on which photograph is picked as the winner.
Anup sir 9 photographs are displayed per page, however in order to vote, one has to click them and view them in full size before casting a vote. I am not quite sure if I can modify this, however let me see what I can do.

And this puts all the photos towards the end at a major dis-advantage!
Maybe the best option is to let the THREE MUSKETEERS decide the winner, as each is a craftsman in his own right!

Re: Photography contest length
I would also say, the voting period should start only when the submission period is over.
It can be announced here, that the voting period starts and ends on these dates. And when, you already are going to make it a monthly affair, people will know with time, that, thats how it is.
cheers..
