Maruti to launch LPG variant of M800
Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is planning to come out with LPG variant of its M800, the model that redefined personal transportation in India 25 years back.

According to vendor sources, the company will be launching the LPG variant of its flagship model M800, to be named 'M800 Duo', some time next week, which is expected to be priced about Rs 20,000 more than its petrol versions.

When will Indian Car Manufacturers realize that CNG is the way to go, not LPG.

How much does a decent aftermarket gas kit costs?Last time i heard it was below 20k.
20 grands seem to be on the higher side.If a aftermarket one costs less, then most will prefer buying the usual petrol one and fit a gas kit to it.

aftermarket kit costs around 14k
buying the petrol one n fit a gas kit= warranty void.
also, with a gaskit low end torque is reduced n i have heard engine life decreases with these kits.

Like Sunny said, after market kit would void the warranty which few would like to keep, even if it means shelling out 5-6k more. However LPG kits are only economical if one is using/refilling from a domestic gas cylinder and not the one available commercially.

very much right,
+filling lpg at home from domestic cylinder is not safe and illegal too.
bestway is to go with kits provided by car manufacturer.

Re: Maruti to launch LPG variant of M800
I once met an ex army Sardarji who was running a Rs2,000. LPG kit on an 800 and had a domestic cylinder just lying in the boot...not even fastened securely. He said that this car had been a daily driver for his wife for the past five years. Damn, I would never let any family member get closeto such a thing.

LPG gives better performance than CNG kits. There is no power loss.
Also the range that a LPG cylinder offers is close to 3 times what a CNG cylinder offers.

Also getting a after market kit fit on to your car requires change in the registration papers which is an additional cost and hassel.
