Re: Best SUV on indian roads.
A LOT depends on usage profile!
What all activities do you plan to use it for?

Re: Best SUV on indian roads.
Below 10L there is the Safari 2.2
Why? Because there is no scorpio 4x4 2.2 yet(2.6 is not available from Mahindra).
10L-20L the endeavor it is. 4x4 with Limited slip DIFF.
There is the Suzuki GV. It has central DIFF(lockable).
However if we discount the "comfort SUVs" and bring in MUVs, than the trax gurkha and the M&M jeeps and Bolero make the cut below 10L

If this is true, even temporarily, I say it is an absolute shame. Shows very shoddy thinking from M&M.

Re: Best SUV on indian roads.
Well how do you define a SUV ) for me a proper SUV is one which has a selectable 4 wheel drive, additional low ratio gear and a lockable differential (or similar) as a must ...
Any other must haves for a SUV ?????

For a true blue, yes. Ground clearance. Good approach & departure angles. Sturdy metal bumpers, with scope for winch, tow hook, etc.

Nooooo.... you couldn't be more wrong! Grand Vitara has the most sophisticated 4wheel drive tranny below 20 lakh rupees. Ground clearance might be a problem but that apart its as good an offroader as any. CRV doesnt even comes close to it.
While Pajero has a pedigree but its too expensive for what it provides, Endeavour with is truck/pik up chassis isnt as comfortable. Gimme the Vitara with a nice diesel engine, I would prefer it over the others anyday.

Yup, the GV is an excellent Off roader, much much much better than the CRV. The GC is a slight issue, but other than that she can go places.
