Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW AG) has arrived on the Indian roads. The German luxury carmaker on Thursday began its Indian operations at Chennai, aiming to partake the growing automotive boom in India. The plant, located at Mahindra World City, will assemble the BMW 3 Series and the 5 Series of sedans.
The company on Thursday launched the 3 Series, while the 5 series will hit the roads in early June. BMW will also sell the 7 Series and the X-range of products, which includes the SUV X3 and X5, through the completely built unit route.
