Prasham, this sounds impressive, but what can be said?
We will hardly benefit from any of these advancements. We are victims of highly adulterated fuel, which makes every manufacturer 'de-tune' their engines to cope with our shit fuel!
We are not even able to derive full benefit of technology as available to people in other countries!
We are like that only.

BTW, modern ship engines (ALL 2 stroke, turbo-charged) routinely return specific fuel consumption figures of about 123 gms/bhp-hr, with fuels of typical calorific value 9500 Kcals/kg, when operating at 85% of rated power.

Actually one initiate that I did like and I feel is doable and is the way froward is Mercedes plan to stop producing Petrol and Diesel vehicles in seven years and rely upon alternate fuel, http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle1314732.ece

Yeah they have excellent plan and I hope that it is actually able to follow it. But seeing the current scenario, it seems to be a bit too far away due to lack of supporting infrastructure.

With their reputation it doesn't seem far fetched though in countries like India, developing the supporting infrastructure is going to be a major issue.
