Ford Figo: New Small Car Stirs B Segment

Ah! Are we all forgetting that FORD was the first ever CAR ?

I think the Figo looks good though it is based on a old Fiesta that's defunct in Europe. I stumbled upon some of the interior shots and it looks very decent - IAB is in Goa checking out the new Ford Figo | Indian Autos blog

I observe the Indian engineers have worked hard on the car Indianizing it to the best possible extent. The car looks close to the Fusion, but why bother if you get a Fusion for a price of the Indica Vista?

Now the crucial point is the pricing. I'd want to see Ford price the Figo near 4.5 lakh for the diesel and the petrol at 3.75. They should do some aggressive pricing exercise if they need to take out Maruti, Hyundai or Tata.

My observations -
1. Passenger space is good but the boot is huge for a hatch.
2. Interiors are thoughtfully designed especially the door pads accomodating full size bottles.
3. Dash looks funky and should appeal to young at heart drivers.
4. Seats, as usual from Ford appears to be providing great driving position.
5. Rear seat space is'nt all that good.
6. Exterior styling is good and safe (conservative), nothing to beat the Beat from Chevy.
7. Bulging wheel archs gives it a muscular and purposefull looks.
8. Ground clearance appears to be better than most hatchbacks (inherited from Fusion).
9. Nose is the best part with those beautifull headlamps and grill.

My Expectations -
1. Price, base petrol and base diesel should not exceed 3.5 and 4.25 lakh rupees respectively.
2. 1.4TDCi engine from Fiesta.
3. Ford should further improve on the ASS and the overall ownership cost.

Congratulations Indizen, for the wonderfull car and the wise decision. And white is indeed the best color, IMHO.

I bought the Dzire last wednesday but was'nt really too keen to drive one as for me its just like another Swift which I have been driving for more than a year now. It was a decision taken under influence of brother's choice for whom the car was being bought.

Infact I already have chosen Figo as my next car which I have planned to buy in first quarter of 2012.
