I don't have much knowledge about DSLRs but How come 500D is pricey then a 1000D?

500D is better than 1000D. 100D is entry level DSLR from Canon.
500D has more features than 1000D like more megapixel. Larger LCD, higher ISO, movie recording, more focus points.

Rs47,000 is a good price, here it's the equivalent of about 56,000. incl 14% VAT.

Does that mean the full manual, printed, or do you mean the little user manual. Because I'm having a problem now, the G10 manual is 300 pages pdf. So I'm going to have to print it 10-20 pages per day or so, at work, and then organise some binder.
