Not sure how long to charge your batteries? Use this cool tool here:

These batteries can be purchased separately from Sony World shops - purchased one for a friend last year from the shop at Janpath.

Salil bhai thanks for this useful tool. By the way thank you all the members who has opened their knowledge bank for me I would like to share somthing may be it will be helpful for someone.

I have purchased My Nikon L100 P & S in Jan 2010 & got 4 pcs of Uniross 2500 NIMH free with uniross charger. Also as a spare i purchased Eveready 700 Nicd rechargeable. Everything went fine for 2-3 months then all of a sudden whenever i put my fully charged batteries ( as per the charging time in manual) in my cam it was showing low battery & in just 1 click with flash cam was going on standby mode,. Googled the problem & came to know that may be because of the framework version. Nikon has launched ver1.1 for NIMH batteries. So checked the version of my cam it was showing Ver 1.1 that implies no need to update the version as i have the latest one in it.

Now what could be either my charger is not charging batteries or their is a problem in the cam. So i purchased a new kodak charger with four 2100 Mah rechargeable batteries. Charged the batteries & for 11 hrs as per the charger manual & tried on my cam again the same problem cam was showing battery exhausted.

Again googled it & found nothing. Checked the manual & came to know their is an option in the settings for selecting the battery type which you are using. Checked that & found it was in Alkaline while i was using NIMH. Selected that & Hurray solved the problem

For all nikon users if they are having same problem try this & will not get any issue. Their are three options in battery type - Alkaline, Coolpix ( NIMH) and Lithium Ion. If you are using rechargeable select Coolpix ( NIMH).

Hope this info will help somebody.

Very useful information, Rahul. Neat feature in Nikon cameras!
The reason is that Alkaline batteries have terminal voltage of 1.5V, Lithium Ions & NiMH have 1.25V, and Lithium Ion have 3.2V.

Mr. Mathur,

Could you please put a light on why you have used lithium ion 2 times with different voltage. Is it coming with different voltage?

Ah! Sorry, that was supposed to be NiCd, not Lithium ion.

Maybe that is what I was intending to write there! I see it is missing.

Yes, these are original. I have already tested them. They were pre-charged.
Grey Market. But that hardly matters,,its the batteries that matter.

Also regarding originality, the re-chargeable battery market has grown exponentialy with the popularity of digital camera and camcorders.

The shop owner is trust worthy as I also got Nikon imitation batteries for Rs 700/- which sell for Rs 2200/- original. He could have ( if wanted to ) tried to sell those to me for say Rs 1500/- and kept the margin )

Let me know if you want more information about the shop.

Does anyone know if Canon cameras also have any such feature? I use NiMH batteries but once when the batteries died on me, I used regular AA cells (2 of them) They ran out of juice within 6-8 photos?

Is it because of some setting like that, or do these digital cameras exhaust batteries this fast? I remember our film roll camera back in those days, it used to click way more photos on same pair of ordinary AA cells.
