After watching Dhoom-2 yesterday, I remembered the bad things being said about it by few biker friends of mine. Pretty much similar to what I had heard when Dhoom was released and in few respect even worse! Same biker friends of mine, who had previously said Dhoom was a joke, were saying Dhoom-2 couldn?t meet the expectations set by Dhoom!!!
![]() ![]() If you were to ask me as a biker what my critical analysis would be of Dhoom and Dhoom-2, then I would say they are a joke! That?s right; I think both of them are a joke. After all how many times do you see a Suzuki Bandit winning drags against liter class sports bikes, a Maruti Gypsy and a Royal Enfield keeping up with Suzuki Hayabusa, motorcycles jumping through air like they have rockets attached to them and who can forget the ridiculous fake flames that came out of the exhausts of Hayabusa every time John Abraham pushed the NOS button. Even in Dhoom 2 these jokes continue, bikes still fly and so do heroes, not to mention electro-magnetic propulsion being used by Hrithik Roshan to go faster on skates than Suzuki Bandit! In fact apart from the fact that one can see motorcycles in these movies, there is nothing even remotely connected to biking. However once I stop seeing it from the perspective of a hardcore biker, I have to admit it has had an impact in general. From the road side modification shops setting up shops overnight to cash in on the ?Dhoom? craze to stunters who have gained more exposure in the eyes of media and general public to Johan Abraham wannabes who ride without helmets to impress the opposite sex. However one person has gained most from all this, despite the fact that he failed to score a part in Dhoom-2. You guessed it right; I am talking about John Abraham ![]() From capturing the hearts of lakhs of girls, to being called a biking icon of India. Some thing which has lend him lucrative contracts with Castrol, Yamaha among others. Even though he does likes to ride motorcycles, I doubt he has done any thing other than acting in Dhoom that gets him a mention in media when ever biking in India is being discussed! In fact I feel it is the media that has over hyped Dhoom and has tried to make it synonymous with biking since an average journalist hardly knows any thing about biking apart from the fact that John rides a big import in the movie which costs a lot! This is why they try to cover their inadequacies by bringing Dhoom in to the equation when they are given the task of doing a story that relates to biking. All that I can say is, I didn?t started biking because of Dhoom and most probably you didn?t either. So let?s enjoy them for what they are, few hours of time pass. Oh yes to all those John Abraham wannabes, get a life! |

Dhoom???
bhooommm... and the bubble bursts! i m on bikes (& in cars) since days when John was nobody! well, Dhoom or no Dhoom... but see these movies as a gud time pass stuff... and donot compare the with anything related to practicalities! i know wat these kind of movies are, but still, these movies has 'contributed' to the current craze for bikes in India! although the love for motorcycles is very old even in india, but these "imported" bikes in movies has changed the mindset of people...and now they want to look cool (or is it hot?!) on motorcycles...like hmmm... John/Uday/Abhi or else!

My personal opinion about Indian Comedy Movies...watch only the ones that have paresh rawal, akshay kumar, rajpal yadav featuring.
Unfortunately, none of these actors have acted in Dhoom. So not wasting any money on a stupid comedy movie. |

John Abraham, "biking icon of India"
PS: Yogesh please put a warning message before writing something like that, sitting in office I can't afford to laugh so loud :P A star + big bike (throw money and buy one) = biking icon of india. Who are these fools who think like that? What about the Indian racers who are racing on tracks abroad and doing well, who are they? Let me ask a bold question, do john knows how to "ride" (not just sit on it and twist the wrist) the bike? You put in some fancy bikes, ride them like fools (who can forget Abhishekh standing up at pillion seat while bike is doing 200+ and shooting at guys ahead |

Sachin spot on
Manas forgot to mention those brake jingles Praveen your right, it?s a good comedy movie. That?s is what I say about Dhoom 1, however it seems media is hell bent on making them a cult movie! Srikeerthi last I heard they are going to make Dhoom 3, guess another time pass for few hours will be arranged. Who knows maybe it will have Paresh Rawal this time Sumeet this is where you are mistaken, watch Dhoom 2 and you will add more people to that list Navendu mainly it?s the media and the posers who think John is biking icon. I wouldn?t comment on his riding since I have never seen him riding in real life and from what I have heard in media he does love motorcycles. But than again so do you and I, so what is that makes him different from all of us? Just a celebrity status, that?s it! Apart from that I don?t think he has contributed any thing else to the biking fraternity in India! |

Gave a miss to dhoom 1 and avoided even the dhoom2 trailers.
Those guyz in the movies use bikes for cheap stunts to sate the audience' thirst for adventure and depict deriving pleasure from chicks. The gullible fools who watch this movie, link the two: bikes + stunts = chicks. Someone tell those susceptible fools that Chicks care balls about bikes, my colleagues boyfriend had a beautiful twin Jawa 350 and this chick would remark he has some old rotten bike whenever i asked her about the bike's make. N she wud say "we go on long rides on his bike". Rides?!!! if i saw her on that bike with that guy i wud have missed her but not the Jawa. Given a chance chicks wud always prefer a 4 wheeler over a 2 wheeler being driven by a John Abrahm look alike. Well most of the chicks wud coz there is one friend i know who wont let me leave till she does one round of her colony on my bike.[/list] |
