Default Easy trek in North India for a newbie to trekking

I am planning to start trekking in a couple of months, can any one suggest an easy trek in North India (preferably in Himachal) that can be done in one day and is 3-5 kms one side with not too steep gradient?

Great things start off small, I started motorcycle touring with sprints on the Delhi - Jaipur highway and rest is history.

serolskar is a nice trek to start off with
easy only if there is no snow/ice can be quite tricky at places if there is ice
