Default Himachal Tourism Tourist Lodge, Manali

The Himachal Tourism Tourist Lodge at Manali, provides inexpensive accommodation to those traveling on a budget.

The dormitory is located on the banks of river Beas and is only a few hundred meters away from the Mall road and Bus depot.

Accommodation is only available on dormitory basis and each room has four beds. Cost of a bed in dormitory is Rs. 75, which is a boon for travelers traveling alone on a budget. Rooms are relatively clean and provide the view of Beas. Parking for motorcycles is located right in front of the lodge, while cars can be parked right opposite it in a dedicated parking lot.

The only downside is the fact that it is located next to a bridge which rattles when ever a vehicle crosses it, so it might not be a good choice for those with light sleep.

YS, this sounds like excellent value for money!
Is this, by any chance, part of the Beas Hotel complex?
I suspect that these might have been the hotel's rooms and because of complaints from guests about noise pollution, maybe they have 'converted' these rooms to a dorm!
BTW, do these rooms have a bath/WC with each room?

It’s an independent structure; it’s on the left hand side of the bridge while the Beas if I remember correctly is on the right hand side. Bathrooms are shared, but there are plenty of them. Though if you want hot water, you have to request the caretaker for it.

Our Ladakh 2007 group had stayed here, since it was inexpensive and one of the few places which could accommodate such a large number people and vehicles.

Still, it is a very cute looking cottage.
I'd put money down for all 4 beds, if they'd allow it!
How many rooms do they have? Maybe it would be worthwhile buying up all the rooms!!

Not entirely sure about it since I arrived late at night and left early morning, but I think they have almost 10 rooms. We had also gotten rooms for ourselves, they don’t have problem allotting you an entire room if you have are getting four beds. The only shortfall of this lodge while traveling with family is the fact that the rooms don’t have attached toilets/bathrooms.

Inderjeet facilities are pretty basic, each room has four beds and they are relatively comfortable. There are 4 or 6 bathrooms/toilets and one has to pay for warm water, which I think costs Rs. 5-10 per bucket.

Since it is only a few hundred meters away from the mall road, lack of restaurant or STD facility doesn’t really make that big a difference.

You cannot book dorms in advance and no one can say if the rooms would be available when you will land up in Manali, its your luck!

There are lots of Hotels in Manali which would cater to all kindya budgets. We stayed in Hotel Shringar in September 2005 which was Rs.150 for a double bed room with TV and attach bath. You may have a problem with that budget of yours because end of May is peak tourist season in Manali, so you might have to stretch that budget.

All the best.

Cheers,
Shamik
