Varun and I stayed at the Hotel New Palace in Dalhousie on the first day of our Sach Pass ride. It’s a nice and clean hotel, situated ~100 meters from Subhash Chowk.
Biggest benefit for us was the fact that this hotel had covered parking (right below hotel), which was large enough to accommodate both our motorcycles and 3-4 cars. A big boon, considering rainy weather of Dalhousie and number monkeys there. ![]() The room itself was quite nice and was decorated with wood and glass and same treatment was given to the roof as well, I guess this was done keeping in mind the romantic nature of Dalhousie ![]() The icing on the cake was the pricing, which after a lot of haggling, was brought down to Rs.300 for the double bed room with attached toilet with geyser and a fantastic view from the balcony. ![]() Hotel New Palace Subhash Chowk, Dalhousie (Himachal Pradesh) Contact numbers: 09816145265, 09816381903, 01899-242239

You sure it was just haggling? Or was there just a hint of threatening?!! This looks like a fantastic deal! Wood. Oh, it is such a weakness with me! |

I think the guy said that this particular room goes for around Rs.1200 in season; the poor guy was amazed when we sticked to our original offer of Rs.300 and threatened to go to another hotel, even when it was raining hard

There are only a couple of ways to swing such deals: 1) Call it haggling, but more than that it's probably threats that work! Y'know, nuisance value kind of stuff! Which most of us erudite gentlemen cannot muster! 2) Name dropping! If you are the DM's or IG, Police's son/nephew/niece, you get it for a song! 3) You are a close relative of Laloo Prasad. 4) You are in the youth congress active committee! ......................... ............. ............

Nothing of that sort sir, didn't even mentioned that we belonged to BCMTouring. Initial price quote to us was Rs.400, which happened because we were surrounded with at least half a dozen touts at Subhash Chowk, each pitching for his hotel and the fact that there were very few tourists.
