Default PWD Guesthouse at Bhanjraroo (Chamba)

On my recent trip to Sach Pass, I spent a night at the PWD Rest House in Bhanjraroo. Just like rest of the PWD rest houses, it is also located on a scenic spot, though a little away from the actual town of Bhanjraroo, however near to the highway to Sach Pass/Pangi Valley.

The room itself was quite large and decent, though cleanliness wasn’t its forte. It might have been the case that since I hadn’t booked it in advance, I was given an unclean room. But overall it wasn’t too bad and for Rs. 250 a night, it was quite decent.

One can book the PWD Rest House in advance through PWD’s Chamba Division by calling them at 01899-222229.

Yes, Bhuwan, but some of the chowkidaars at the PWD rest houses are very good cooks, and turn out yummy fare!

Thanks Prasham and Anup, well didn't ate there. I had to make a call and caretaker was drunk as well, so went to a dhaba just a 100mtr from the guest house and had four chapatis and dal for Rs.15 . But next morning's free tea was good

Amazing how little food can cost in the REAL India!
Was that dhaba's food good?
Am asking because, food being quite an issue with us, I'd still rather stay at such a wonderful looking PWD guest house with slightly grotty rooms, provided good food is just a stone's throw away!

Drunk caretaker. The bane of oh so many PWD and Forest rest houses!

It was okish, kind of felt like home because dal was served in a katori. There are 3-4 dhabas in the same line, so there are plenty of options there.

BTW, do any of those dhabas also serve non-veg stuff? C'mon, you should have guessed this was coming!
