First off, there is no such thing as a "core group" which "laid BCMTouring's foundation". There was a core group formed at a much latter stage, in extension of Moderation team, in the hopes that it will help us get a larger picture (more minds) and develop the forum in an effective manner. However that never worked in a manner we wanted and thus the so called core group was disbanded long back.

I know that ...and agree to it .... but didn't you guys shared the touring spirit and were delighted with the effort you had put in to bring touring enthusiasts together.
And by laying the foundation - I just meant 'laying the foundation' - first few members -only chronologically - nothing more.

First few members who joined BCMTouring, not only joined because they shared the same traveling spirit which is shared by each and every member of BCMTouring, but also because they were and are my friends. I am forever indebted to them for trusting and accepting an idea in its infancy and coming online and showing their trust and support in the idea and me.
However, “core group” by its definition is something much more than that. It represents something much more than the first few members or good friends, it represents in essence, the core values, ideas and direction of the community. Something which has to be earned, not something which is inherited by association or being the first few.

Of the tons of friends you had before BCM was born - this 'core group' refers to the people who shared your touring spirit and of the time before BCM - particularly to the 2005 Ladakh ride
This interest was converted into reality with few group rides and sometime later BCM was born.... and incidentally most of those friends are also members of BCM.. are they active/participative or core - No

Eric you have got the history wrong, first off the Ladakh 2005 trip was never really a group ride! It was a trip that Shamik and I did together and we were joined by Salil, Crimson, Sunil and Manik by chance at Khardung La and we then traveled together for roughly 7 days out of our 17 day trip.
Also I had only been to 1 group trip, prior to 2006 trip to Pushkar and 2007 trip to Ladakh, and that only had Salil, Bunny, Draz and Akshay (he joined for a few hours) and a few others, who aren't even our members! So implying: Quote:
