Looks like you've done enough of research but I doubt that immense cold and snowfall might hinder the trip. Why not plan it a bit earlier? Like a month or so!

I am agree with Prasham, that there will be less chances you will be able to cover all of the places as mention by you. The temperature will be very low even in Leh and some places may be inaccessible due to fresh snowfalls. Last year we struck in Leh around same time(Oct 15th or 16th).We have to fly back to Delhi. The temperature was below zero degrees in Leh during night and early morning. Try to plan a little bit earlier say last week of September or earlier.

Strongly advise to follow what others have already posted, avoid October. It could turn out to be a pain; too cold to enjoy and even if you're rigged right the snow would be unpredictable. Nice to look at on the pictures, nice to play around for a day or two, but traumatic if you are pinned down, immobile and snowed under!!!
Ideal to move your plans up to September, that would be one of the best times to visit there. --Ramky |

Yep, avoid october as everyone says, but if you are so keen on going then atleast you can prepone it by a week. you can be a witness to Raid de himalaya.

for other road users, Raid is a real pain as they at times block the main roads for upto a day to conduct the rally!

well i have no choice of time. i have to go only during my sons vacation. and moreover october is a transition phase wherein even if we get fresh snow falls, roads will not be jammed and vehicles keep moving unlike peak winter. and also we get to see snow fall. we have been earlier to north sikkim - guru dongmar lake - its a heaven on earth at 17,100 ft and experienced similar kind of situation during october. for that matter - october is the best month to visit any part of india wherein the climatic situations are not at its extreme !

i have to plan only during my sons diwali vacation i.e. october. even if it snows, since it will be fresh snow, roads will not be jammed. we have been to kashmir , shimla, sikkim during october and i feel october is the best season for any part of india. well let me know if someone is interested to join us on these dates. we are also covering Darung Drung Glacier and Nun-Kun peaks and also upto Siachen base (if army permits)camp. my dates are freezed. cant change.
