Guys... Just remember 1 thing... If you have some rides under your belt its better doing it solo or with your own gang than joining some unknown guy. Joining someone from different background, taste, understanding may actually create lot of complications during the ride, especially in highly demanding terrain like Ladakh. So decide accordingly.

I am also planning to do the trip in 2010. I have YAMAHA Gladiator and already started preparation for the trip. I have done a lot of reading of the route and found that, there are only few instances of doing leh by small capacity bikes. Since we are using same capacity (125 cc) bike. Hence riding together will be helpful. A little bit of me. I am 30 years aged. Fond of travel, adventure, biking, photography and music of course. Sudipta |

Roxx I suggest that we should start from Manali. If we start from Manali we will start fresh. Manali - Leh is comparatively strenuous & tough terrain rather than Srinagar - Leh. More over descending in rough terrain may be difficult compared to Srinagar Leh High Way as the same is maintained excellently by Indian Military. Attaching is a draft route details. Please correct me if anything missing or wrong. We can meet up in Delhi. And then have some marketing for necessary things and proceed further to Chandigarh (Almost 250 Km 5-7 hrs journey) on the day of arrival in Delhi. And have a rest & planning for the rest of the trip as face to face planning is also necessary. To All. We should also consider for various kits needed for the trip. Like I already have Spanner Set 10 to 22 size, oil dispenser, allen keys, screwdriver set, foot pump. Gloves, Jacket etc. Regadrs Sudipta. Last edited by lifebyroad; 10-12-09 at 06:10 PM. Sudipta, there are quite a few problems with the itinerary you have posted.
First off, you do not need to go to Shimla and my suggestion would be to skip it. In case you still wish to head to Shimla, keep in mind that Manali is around 260km from there. Manali - Kokhsar and Kokhsar - Darcha can easily be done in one day, instead of two. Pang is located at a higher altitude than Sarchu, so you might want to spend the night at Sarchu, instead of Pang. Going to Nubra Valley and covering both sides i.e. Hunder and Panamik and then coming back to Leh is going to be really tough and would require you to simply keep riding, without much if any breaks. Attempting Marsimik La in the afternoon or evening is not recommended and I seriously doubt if the ITBP people will even let you try it! Spend the night at the shores of Pangong Tso and then next day early in the morning, head for Marsimik La. Going from Spangmik to Tso Moriri and then Tso Kar in a single day is only possible, if you are ok with riding 18-20hours and that is when you do not attempt Marsimik La in the morning! Add to that, doing Tso Kar - Kargil is going be extremely hectic. Better bet would be to take the Manali - Leh highway and head for Manali. Of course in this case, you will need enough petrol for around 500-550km.
