I think you over-reacted on your blog post.

What happened was a regular affair. You get the bike from the station till where it is booked.

You need a photocopy of the ticket to submit to the parcel office while taking delivery of the bike. They need to keep a proof of the person/ticket who took the delivery.

PS: Xerox is name of company that makes photocopy machines, the process itself is called photocopy. Coca Cola does not manufacture Bisleri Water... its Parle that does that and other companies produce packaged drinking water of the brand they own.

What happened might be regular affair. But I had no idea about this kind of process.
It was my first time.Whatever information I had with me dint comprise of all that I mentioned.Go through the first post of this thread man....

PS: I dont know whether you have been to Pune,Mumbai Maharashtra or anywhere in western India,XEROX is the term used. So,it was obvious for me get surprised when nobody knew what's a XEROX there. It was written on the machine in big letters XEROX,and when I asked the man for a xerox copy,he looked puzzled.

Are there any agents or porters available at the staion who do the packing for you at some extra charge? What is the best way of disposing the remaining amount of petrol that you have to remove from your bike?

Has any one heard of "courier by train" or "Green courier"?? These are courier services that hire complete rakes. Someone from chennai & then another from bangalore mentioned about these but couldnt give any specifics. Googling didnt yield any info either. Gati is expensive! Rs.3500 for a bullet from Pune to Delhi one way in 2007! i dread to ask this year. My flight ticket may well be cheaper!

Sushrut,

Porters are always present in parcel office and they will do the packing for anything around Rs.100 to 250.
