The best time to visit any National Park for game viewing is from February to May. Yes, I know its extremely hot at most of the parks, but you will give yourself the best chance to spot big game during those months.

Facts

Jim Corbett National Park remains closed from 15th June to 15th November every year. Reason: Monsoon.

By road its around 280 kms from Delhi which takes around 7 hours.

Delhi - Moradabad - Kashipur - Ramnagar - Corbett

By train:

Ranikhet Express from Old Delhi railway station to Ramnagar, its departs everynight at 10:40 pm and reaches Ramnagar at 5:00 am.

Cheers,
Shamik

And if you are going on a safari tour, make sure you start as soon as it's dawn. This will give you the a better chance of seeing the animals that you would like to.
