It is all weather till Losar. But remember it snows in winter, and some roads may become jeep only for short time.
And temperatures drop well below zero sometimes

Yeah Tanveer....We went to Manali/Rohtang in the first week, long weekend for Bapu's bth day and couldn't find snow anywhere at all, except the very far mountain tips. Plus the traffic on the Rohtang route killed us. A little sensibility prevailed and we didn't go for the complete marathon till the zero point and the ghoda ride etc, which a few others did in the group.
So, this time, we are planning a trip to the high Himachal terrain in deep winters, so as to make sure, we get to play in snow at one place or the other. Be it enroute to Kaza side, or Jalori. I have high hopes of Jalori for first week of Jan.

With four days available it should not be much of an issue being able to spend two at Kalpa, particularly since it is not ex-Delhi.

Jalori pass is at 3000m height, and it gets its first snow in Nov.
Now based on how active western disturances are in Dec, will decide snow time in jan.
Around end Jan, jalori pass should be closed to traffic due to snow.
If you can go far, Spiti will definitely have snow, and from Kaza its a day trip to Kunzum road(till snow stops you) and back.

And as for times, even driving slow Narkanda-Kalpa is 6 hours, I guess Chd-Narkanda is around 6 hours maximum if you leave early and miss Kalka jam and all?

Kalpa does have a PWD GH its right before the Circuit House...

No. Kalpa has 1 PWD GH and 1 Circuit House.

Yes R. Peo has a huge PWD GH. If I remember it well it has about 18 rooms.

R Peo GH has 15 rooms
Kalpa RH has 4 rooms
Kalpa Circuit House has 8 rooms
