Hi All
I am planning to go to Leh + Stok Kangri Expedition with Doc. Rohin which is posted in Trekking Section. But In case, I am not able to prepare myself for the expedition and not able to go with him I want suggestions for the following Itinerary...... I will go on Bike(I own CBZ Extreme) and I wish to go to Amarnath Ji also. Day1: Noida-Manali Day2: Manali-Sarchu Day3: Sarchu-Leh Day4: Leh(Local) + Arrange Permits Day5: Leh-Pangong Tso Day6: Pangong Tso - Marsimek la - Leh Day7: Leh - Khardung La - Nubra Valley Day8: Nubra Vally - Leh Day9: Leh - Baltal Day10: Baltal - Amarnath - (12Km Trekking) Day11: Amarnath Darshan - Baltal Day12: Baltal-SriNagar (Visit Dal Lake If have spare time) Day13:Unplanned After Amarnath Darshan( )Day14: SriNagar - Jammu Day15: Jammu-Noida Day16: One Reserve Day (Which Can be adjusted If needed ) Question1: Will it be feasible to go to Amarnath while coming back? Question2: As I am planning from 25th July to 9th August, Probably I will be hitting Baltal on 3rd August and will be doing Amarnath Darshan on 4th August. Yatra's Last Day is on 5th August. So how mush are the chances of Schedule variance due to Rush on Second Last Day?? Question3: I Have 16 Days in all, After Excluding one reserve day if needed I need an Itinerary for 15 Day. As I can't include any Day before Amarnath Visit because that will push Amarnath Darshan to 5th August, I think which will be virtually impossible because on that day Mubarak Chhadi will reach to the cave so I will not be able to go there.... I will still have one more day, So is there any other location near Sri Nagar or after Sri Nagar where I should go?? Thanks In Advance.... Last edited by Jiten; 03-06-09 at 12:53 PM. |

Jiten I know it would be tiring this way, but have you thought about going to Amarnath first and then visiting Ladakh? That way you won't have any issue with the closing dates and you can get the blessings for the rest of your trip as well.

However they are consigned to the early part of the valley and once you are in the town itself there is no 'pressure' felt due to the Yatra. And the valley goes far beyond the town proper. The place is HUGE and never feels overcrowded! My pics are from the first week of the Yatra days in 2007.

There is a big parking outside the entrance for Baltal. All tourist buses, cars and bikes are parked there. It is safe.

Hire a room in Sonamarg or Baltal as you will need to keep your luggage safe as well. Leave the luggage in your room (carry your own lock) and ask the hotel to take care of your bike.

Day12:?? Day13:Leh-Sarchu Day14:Sarchu-Manali Day15:Manali-Delhi Day16:Rest day I have few doubts.... 1). Why people prefer to go from Manali side? 2). Will SriNagar - Baltal be a hectic ride in one day? I have two spare days Day-11 and Day-12. 3). If I come back visiting Tso Kar and Tso Moriri enroute(Carrying Extra Fuel with Me) then also only one extra day will be comsumed i.e Day-12 Now where can I go on Day-11 4). if I do not go to Tso Moriri then Suggest Plan for two Days...... |
