Default Rajasthan road trip

Hi! everybody

I planning a road trip to Rajasthan from Bhopal. Finalised the following plan.
Need your help in fine tuning it..

Day1 24th Dec. Bhopal to Kota (Distance 350kms)Night stay at relatives house

Day2 25th Dec Kota to Udaipur (disatnce 310 Kms via Bundi
Chittorgarh) Reach Udaipur in afternoon after visiting chittor fort.
The route advised : Kota (Jaipur Road)- Bundi (From Bundi take left road for Chittor)- Bijolia- Ladpura- Kathundamore- Chittor- Udaipur.

Query : Is the east west corridor from Kota to Bijolia operational. If yes then i wont have to go via Bundi. Any updates on this ??

Day3 26th Dec. Udaipur
Day4 27th Dec. Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh-Ranakpur-Udaipur
Day5 28th Dec. Udaipur

Day6 29th Dec. Udaipur to Mt.Abu (Distance 161 Kms )
Query : Any update on road condition..??
Query : Whats opening time for Dilwara temples? I heared that its 12 noon..??
Query: Hotel recommendation around 1000 Rs in Abu (car park reqd)

Day7 30th Dec. Mount Abu
Proceed to Jodhpur by 2 in afternoon. Distance 265 kms via Sirohi-Pali. Reach there by 8 in evening.
Query : Is it safe to to drive after dark on this route considering i'll reach Jodhpur by 8 in the evening..??

Day8 31st Dec. Jodhpur to Jaisalmer distance 280 kms via Balesar-Dechoo-Pokaran. Check into RTDC camps at SAM.
Query : Should i go for a sunset safari at SAM or should i go to Khuri or some other place and come back to SAM by 8 in the evening..??

Day9 1st Jan Shift to RTDC Moomal Jaisalmer
Day10 2nd Jan Jaisalmer

Day11 3rd Jan Jaisalmer to Bundi via Jodhpur
Distance 600 kms Route advised : Jaisalmer- Jodhpur- Bar- Bewar- Nashirabad- Devli- Bundi.
(Don't want to stay in relatives house on return so decided for Bundi as pitstop)
Query : Update on road condition from Jodhpur to Bundi ?
Query : Planning to book RTDC Vrindavati at Bundi..??

That's quite a plan Indradhanush, how are you planning to travel (car or motorcycle)?

Ranakpur is BANG on the route to Abu. No point returning to Udaipur that day but instead continuing to Abu.

Its FULLY safe. The unsafe area is the wild west types area post abu road/palanpur at very late nights (read post 11). Sirohi onwards ultra safe. I've ridden from Jodhpur-Abu starting 830pm Only issue with 4 wheelers is that its two lane. Except fuck-all buses, its ok.

Sunset safari is frankly crap. Read tsk's triplog for more details on what to expect all the same! Camps ka bhi decide kar lo. Honestly, safari etc is okay - do it, see tamasha, then settle in proper comfort for night Its less than an hour away from Jaisalmer anyways!

PS: You could add some other areas (lemme check my chats/emails/ditched plans!) - some fossil stuff is also around.
PPS: Too much time in udaipur, and no point stopping at kota first day unless its really needed. You need to give MORE time to jodhpur - lovely rooftop ambience, lovely qila - the bestest across all of rajasthan imnsho!
PPPS: check out osian dunes near jodhpur - they trumps SAM IMSNHO (smaller but truly golden sands and no mad tourists).

Thanks Hitanshu...

Ummm...Ranakpur to Abu on same day....will have to cancel 1 day of Udaipur Boooking...let me see...??

I have been to Jodhpur before hence kept it as a stopover from ABU to Jaisalmer.

Osian dunes...will try for that...

As for Kota night stay ....I am starting at 1:00 PM in the afternoon from Bhopal. It will take me 6 hrs to reach Kota. That means around 7 in the evening. Hence decided to stop here. Had i been starting in morning I would have halted at Chittaurgarh. Thats why the Query "Is the East-West corridor from Kota to Chittaur operational or i have to take the Bundi route."

How much time will it take for Kota to Chittaur..??

Yes you are right about the safari tamasha.....will keep a bottle ready to settle down in the night..

I

But Bundi is a magical place to visit - in fact you should stay there overnight.

Why are you backtracking to Udaipur. You can proceed straightaway to Jodhpur after the fort and temples.

Sam and Khuri are in 2 different directions from Jaisalmer, both around 40 km.
