VOF-Mana-Malari Help

[Prasham]

I have adjusted my work and have finally made plan for 8 days to cover VOF - Hemkund - Mana - Malari. I will reach Haridwar on afternoon of 27th August and have booked return ticket on afternoon of 3rd September. How can I cover all the above mentioned destinations?

BTW I will be riding my bike most probably.


Note for MOD: I know I am running another thread on the same area but as I have added few more destinations which aren't final I started this new thread to keep things simple.

badrinath and mana are ok but the road from joshimath to malari is in very bad shape. the complete stretch joshimath-tapovan-lata-malari is torn. if visit to malari is not essential it can be skipped. rest can be easily done.
27/08 haridwar & rishikesh
28/08 haridwar to badrinath
29/08 badrinath to mana-badrinath-govindghat
from govidghat start your trek upto ghagharia (13km)
30/08 ghagharia to hemkund and back to ghagharia(6 km +6km)
31/08 visit to VOF (3 to 8 km stretch)
01/08 ghagharia to govindghat
govindghat to rudra prayag
02/08 rudraprayag to haridwar/rishikesh

I know Joshimath - Malari "road" is in bad shape & from what I've heard... it was never in good shape... But can one reach Malari within a day from Joshimath? Any Permits required?

I've read this as there are very few sources on info for Malari. But it seems a bit old, any new update would be great!

I got to know from a friend that one can cover to & fro from Malari village in one day. The road was in so so condition last year i.e. before winter. Don't know the exact condition but he said that it can be doable at any time of year.

hmn, that would be better. you collect info at joshimath and decide your itinerary. may by that time some section of road may be built up.

How does the following itinerary look?

26 - Board train to Haridwar (Night in Train)

27 - Reach Haridwar. Reach Srinagar/Rudraprayag. (Night in Hotel)

28 - Srinagar - Joshimath - Malari. (Night in Hotel)

29 - Malari - Mana - Badrinathji (Night in Hotel)

30 - Bardrinathji - Govindghat - Ghangheria (Night in Hotel)

31 - Ghangheria - VOF - Ghangheria (Night in Hotel)

01 - Ghangheria - Hemkund - Gangheria (Night in Hotel)

02 - Ghangheria - Govindghat - Srinagar (Night in Hotel)

03 - Srinagar - Haridwar - Train to Ahmedabad (Night in Train)

04 - Reach Ahmedabad by evening. Unload bike and start towards Surendranagar.

If there is a problem of time, compromise on Hemkund. Can someone please mention the distance for each day's travel mentioned above.
