Nope, they are small towns with no jams. Some slow traffic for some time. I have done highway 95, its relatively free of traffic.

Hi all,
Planning to visit Leh on bike.Seems a task as coming from Mumbai & finishing the journey in 12 days is a big ask. May I have some idea where I could finish Delhi-Leh-Delhi in a span of 10 days in Septermber? |

Mayuresh here is an itinerary you can try:
Day 1: Delhi - Manali Day 2: Manali - Sarchu Day 3: Sarchu - Leh Day 4: Leh, get the permits Day 5: Leh - Khardung La - Leh Day 6: Leh - Chang La - Pangong Tso Day 7: Pangong Tso - Chang La - Leh Day 8: Leh - Sarchu Day 9: Sarchu - Manali Day 10: Manali - Delhi Now this is a tight plan so it would be best if you can add a day or two to it. |

Why not get permits in advance through some travel agent? It could save a day!

Because it not only costs more, it doesn't gives one any chance to rest. Riding bike for 10-12 hours daily for 10 days is a tiring affair, especially at that kind of altitude. So it is better to stop and relax for while.

No there isnt. I know HPPWD site says there is. I called them up, and they told me that there is a PWD resthouse at Marhi, but this Marhi is not the same Marhi that comes after Manali, its somewhere else.
If there was I would have stayed there! |
