So what did they say, is there a HPPWD at Marhi? I went there recently, and I could not see any permanent structure except the pump house near the end of the village.

He didn't inquire at their office, he landed there in the evening and had to find a place to stay. Caretaker there quoted crazy figure so he simply went ahead and stayed at Kokhsar.

So he landed up at Marhi PWD? Now I am confused, because PWD guys told me last PWD before Rohtang was at Kothi...

That's right. There's a PWD rest house at Marhi, and I stayed there with Dixit. Let me get home, and I'll post some photos. The rough location would be about 50 meters behind the restaurants on the right side as you head to Rohtang. Will post some photos.. that should make it more apparent.

This is interesting! I think PWD guys told me there isn't one because it was snowed out in early may.
