After the canon ball run the previous day you might not be in a state to ride to Shakti on the 22nd. As far as Karu is concerned, you can certainly find accommodation there, I am not quite sure about Shakti, but there might be some there since it is a large village.
On the 27th you can try and visit Lamayuru and Alchi, both places are worth a visit, rest looks fine.

Any ways thanks for suggestions. As I shall be riding for about 125 kms each day I am planning to carry a tent for two along with me. I think I shall have ample time to dig it up as 125 kms doesn't take more than 4-5 hours. What Say? Is it safe to stay at the starting of village? Also as we shall be visiting few monasteries and palaces in return journey, Is there proper parking where in we can keep our bikes along with the luggage or will we have to carry all the luggage with us to the hillock? Is there a possiblity of 1 day river rafting (however small) or 1 day short but fantastic trek or something that I would remember for my lifetime. |

Parking is there, but not paid parking i.e. there is a place where you can park your bike, but that is it. You will have to carry your luggage or trust some one else with it.
You don’t really need tents unless you are hell bent on staying in one, add to that you don’t have a saddle bag so carrying a tent and sleeping bag along with your luggage would be a tough ask.

Why would you need petrol cans?

Isn't it better to carry petrol tanks (atleast 5 lts for each bike) so that incase something goes wrong we can atleast come back to leh.
I heard there is petrol pump at Deskit but isn't reliable. Also I might try to checkout the new road that I have mentioned on other thread. Outcome isn't known. So I think its better to be equipped. Is there a petrol pump after changla? Can it be purchased in black from some residents there? |

There is no petrol pump after Chang La; you can tie the petrol can to the sari guard of the bike. Unless you want to try and explore that route, you wont need extra petrol.
