Ladakh Bid #2
Hi Guys, sorry i have not been able to post much in the couple of weeks that i have returned, but i should be up to speed with things in another weeks time.
As some of u may remember that i had aimed for ladakh 2 years ago and had planned everything, got the car serviced and an uncle got diagnosed with lung cancer so we cancelled last minute and we are glad that we did coz he passed away a few weeks later and we were there to help.
ok now getting back to ladakh. a lot of our family and friends are intrested so it may be 2 groups of people, one will fly and the others will drive from mumbai, some maybe bangalore. things are too sketchy at the moment.
however heres the question for guys who have been to ladakh by road, can a palio do the srinagar-leh and manali-leh highway?
3 young guns want to do it by road with us but since there is no space in my car and no other big car is available we may have to take a palio along.
Any input from ur side would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Ladakh Bid #2
Put minimum luggage in Palio and try and drive ahead of them, apart from a few underbelly scratches in a water crossing or two, rest ought to be fine.
Last year Manali - Leh was in a fantastic condition with road even on top of Baralacha La, of course a few rough patches were still there, including that big water crossing between Kokhsar and Keylong.

Water crossings can be anywhere.
I had a mammoth one (quite above knee height) due to the jugal(?) bridge being down at pang. So you never know kab kahan kitni issues hon!

With its immense power Palio Diesel can go almost anywhere... but just a moderate concern...
I have a palio too (diesel)... Mostly all the Palio owners know about the "Fuel Pump" problem it has... It loses all the engine power as well as braking capacity all of a sudden for couple of seconds and again regains life... This could be problematic... if not fatal...
Just double check for the issue before leaving mumbai...

Bike sputtered, die and are duly pushed across by yours truly
They come back to life in due course - the upswept exhaust helps.

Re: Ladakh Bid #2
HI Guys thanks a ton for your replies.
however i would like to clarify that the palio is a 1.2 petrol.
oh and i am still confused about the final verdict.
we intend to go via srinagar and return via manali
so do u think a palio can do these roads??
ok let me rephrase that to can a palio do those roads in mid june???
yogesh 's reply was pretty clear but i am a little confused by hitanshu, akshay and prasham's reply.
there will be three people in it and i am sure that the luggage can be spread out in other cars (scorpio and an innova) for the srinagar - leh and manali - leh segments.
i shall 'leh' out the complete trip plans by the middle of april things are being reshuffled continuously as a lot of people are game to do it by road.

Re: Ladakh Bid #2
Final verdict yes it can
Palio has a GC of 170mm
where as scorpio's is 180mm
so no issues
go ahead and enjoy
