Leh in September
Hello,
Is the 5th to 20th of September a good time to go to Ladakh via the Manali - Leh route? When does that road close?

Generally september can be considered to be good time as Anup Sir said. Especially 1st half.
Road is open till mid october or so but generally one can expect some support from army/BRO till september end.

Re: Leh in September
Roads are as good or bad as the rest of the year, water crossings have a little less water and there is no snow on the road.

Re: Leh in September
Hi,
We are also planning to go to Leh during the same time.
Is there any snow at all? What is the weather like?
Thanks!
Rashi

Re: Leh in September
Rashi it depends on the weather, however one would likely find some snow at Khardung La, Chang La and Tanglang La and you might just encounter some snowfall as well.

Re: Leh in September
Depends. Generally high passes have snow round the year. So just go for it.

Yogesh, Prasham,
Thanks for the info!
We went to Kinnaur in 2005 and didn't find snow within reaches. So I was hoping that this time around we have some luck with snow

Re: Leh in September
If you don't find snow anywhere and/or want to witness snowfall then just stay at Chang La or Tanglang La at late evening and you will get your wish
Ps. J/K, don't even try it. Army would throw you off Chang La and wind and AMS would do the same at Tanglang La.

Holy Cow !!! You never mentioned it before. Can I tag along and ride behind (at a safe distance ofcourse) your Car? It will be real helpful for a first timer like me to be in touch with a veteran like you from time to time.
