Srinagar to Leh is a slightly safer bet and is also a great journey.

Are you driving yourself? What car? How many people?

BTW the effects of the monsoon only affect the portion this side of Rohtang and till about Gramphoo on the other side. Once you are past Darcha, you are essentially in rain shadow area.

Ok now for the main reason why I am here.......

Me and my friends are planning a trip from DEL - LEH....on 14th July in a Maruti Alto.

And i am very much worried about, whether the present road conditions, the weather would really favor the ALTO drive.

We are already doing some minor modifications so as to be on the safer side....(what i think ) i.e... we are fitting four rubber corks (gutka) under every shocker, so as to increase the ground clearance.

Also, would really appreciate if anyone can suggest a suitable itinerary, so that we can plan our stoppage points. We have 10 Days of time.

Please mention all important tips if possible....
