2) Well pillion is definitely possible but isn't very comfortable for the pillion rider plus 2 guys & their luggage would put too much load on the bike. I suggest you guys take both the bikes. 3) Bike would loose some performance on those high passes but on Karizma you shouldn't have much trouble if you are taking both the bikes. 4) In July-August India witnesses good amount of rainfall and hence riding in plains might be difficult plus time consuming. Hence I suggest you carry your bikes in train till Jammu/Delhi and then ride it till Leh and back. 5) Considering that you would take both the ZMAs Per Person cost would be anywhere between 700-1000 bucks per day. If you are riding right from Mumbai you might need atleast 15 days or if you carry it on train you may finish the trip in about 12 days.

Pillion on Karizma is ok for LEH.Bike will take load but dont know about pillion
Dont drive your bike from Mumbai to LEH.Dont waste time in plains when you can give those important days to roam around LEH.Use train to send your bikes upto Kalka or Delhi. |

Karizma would be able to take both of you to Ladakh, provided the bike is in good condition and both of you don’t weigh 90+ kg.
Having said that, it will be tiring journey for the pillion and due to less space available for luggage, you will have to carry limited stuff, unless your pillion is dedicated enough to carry a backpack (purchase saddle bag and tank bag before the ride). As far as cost goes, it all depends on you; here is a blog post I wrote regarding this, Budget for a trip to Ladakh | Yogesh Sarkar's Blog

Do not ride from Mumbai to Chandigarh for 2-3 reasons : 1. Monsoon 2. No fun in riding in plains for so long 3. Save time, use it in Ladakh !!
Transport your motorcycle to Chandigarh & start from there !!

I suggest you book your bike for Jammu/Srinagar by railway or cargo and then fly there. This would save you from all the issues that Amit (Hiambuj) has already mentioned above.
