hi, everyone

i m new here, i m planning for a trip from AHmedabad to Leh and returen via kargil srinagar rout. and i have a TOYOTA QUALIS (year 2002 model) is it ok for the rout. someone told me that any CRDI vehical is preferable please help me out. is my QUALIS make starting problem in mornning or any other problem ? i will started on 8th of Jun 2008 and will be in manali after two days

You have one of THE best vehicles around. Alas, it is not available any more!
Go right ahead, and stop worrying.
Just have your car checked up and serviced before you start.
You'll see many Qualises on the Manali-Leh route, and if you ask any taxi driver there, they'll tell you that the Qualis was the best!
There are many plying at Leh also.

Qualis is one the preffered vehicles in Laddakh region.

Just check the vehicle throughly ... very thoroughly.

Its common to overlook things like coolant level as people think its cold weather there, but the terrain makes the engine heat up a lot.

So make sure you take care of everything that might go wrong.

My friend told me that you need to add something in the fuel to prevent it from freezing. Something like that, is this true?

As far as I have heard, anti freeze is already added to petrol sold in India.

If you aren't planning to stay on top of high passes, you won't have problem of diesel getting freezed... Just chill and enjoy the ride you have a good vehicle, just check it thoroughly before venturing out...

You wont need anti-freeze for your vehicle. And anyways diesel has lower freezing temperature than petrol which we never heard of happening during this season.

Fuel sold there comes with anti-freee added as a friend working in IOC told me. No need to worry about diesel freezing up.

You have to ensure coolant levals and check all fluids more often there. Otherwise, Qualis is a great vehicle for this terrain.

thanks for replay everybody, and specially for yogesh (for preper your car for Ladakh) and ramky (for ladakh-spiti-drive-direction1[1].ramky) thanks again. actually i goes to the himaliya every year for trekking but this time we started from ahmedabad (gujarat) to Khardunga La with the nobel cause to create an awareness about Thalassemia and Polio Eradication from the society. we started our expidition from Ahmedabad to Khardungla to Ahmedabad via Manali Leh Kargil Srinagar from 8th Jun 2008
