The RX135 that I ride, after it I don't find even ZMA's pickup to be good. Sorry, I got a moded RX.
As, I have never ridden a stock 135, I'm sorry, I can't help you with your query. Will suggest you to ride one and see for your self.
As I have never taken CBZ to Ladakh, can't answer you but you can ping one trance_nut, who have seen every nook and corner of Ladakh on his CBZ.

you forgot the stage II ported speedo and some dope in the list of essentials.

Firstly, the R15 doesnt have a true speed beyond 135 kmph, seems the Yamaha has an equally optimistic digi speedo like the rest of the lot. And "fearless attitude" etc is good, save it for better stuff than trying to go hell over leather on public roads.

Secondly, do not jump into everything with your eyes closed, Salil didnt ask you the question - we can safely assume you aint no road tester.

Thirdly and more importantly, as responsible motorcyclists, think before you post.

Thanks,
Shamik
Thanks for the attention Shamik, I am definitely not a road tester. But what I expressed were my personal experience and views.

If you go through what I wrote will find that I assumed the error at 7-8%, could be more and could be less as well. I also mentioned that they were not the figures from a GPS Datalogger.

I try to be as sensible as any other safe rider and try to suggest the same to other riders as well. Reason behind the fact is that I used to be a fierce road racer in my early days (not feeling proud about that at all).

And then I had couple of serious crashes ( one on RD and the other one on RX) which changed my complete outlook towards biking.

Though I still ride fast at times but only when I find right conditions for the same. I don't race with anybody else but myself.

Though I don't find myself posting anything without being responsible but as it has been mentioned by you, I'll try to be a bit more cautious.

Keep Riding and keep posting!

100kph is achieved at 6,800RPM on R15.

Aamien I have got 5Speed RX135 and it was at par with the old CBZ but since its old and has clocked almost 2,00,000 kms definitely is slower the the CBZ Xtreme. Though the thrust and thrill provided by the 2Stroke engine is still unmatched.

Going offroad is never going to be a problem with it provided you choose correct tyres. Old pattern ribbed tyre at front is a big no. Go for dual purpose tyres from CEAT, both front and rear if you have planned or planning to take it to Leh. You can try the ones from Pirelli if you can get but don't go oversize.

You would need to carry enough 2Stroke engine oil (2T oil) depending upon the total distance to be covered. In case you run out of it, you can use to 2T mix petrol as well. The one we refer to engine oil in 2Strokes is actually gear oil.

Don't forget to take spare headlight and tail light bulbs and spark plug atleast.

Rest of the details can be found in 'How to prepare your motorcycle for Laddakh'.

Keep Riding and keep posting!

@Aamein: CBZX is not exactly the quickest around, but then you dont need a quick bike to get to Leh ... One thing's for sure, its damn reliable.

Riding bikes or driving cars is much more than specifications. Every Ferrari F-430 driver knows that it can do 0-100kph in 4.5 odd secs, but is it worth only knowing it. Pleasure in pushing the pedal to the metal and feeling that rush of adrenalin.

Similarly just procuring the R15 and to know its top speed just is'nt enough and any good till the time you don't achieve that or atleast try to give it a serious attempt. Its got nothing to do with the need infact you don't need a bike that can beyond 130kph in India because the roads and traffic is not worth more than that. I would rather have bike that can go to 150kph while doing 130kph in 18 secs than to a bike with limited top speed of 130kph but achieving it in 14-15secs.

These are my personal views and are not directed to any person proper. If anybody feels offended, please accept my sincere apologies.

Keep Riding and keep writing!
