If its more powerful and has got more torque than the current ZMA - I think I am going for this one. Since when form took over function for enthusiasts! Its still the ZMA allright, not for nothing its the best touring bike in India despite a plethora of Bajaj and TVS bikes around.

We were coming down though some of the hair pin curves and I thought we could save some fuel by turning the engine off.
There was no control over the speed and I banged to a small rock. The front of my bike was completely lost and I had some bad bruises on my hands & legs |

Like I said in my blog, I too am going for this motorcycle, provided Hero Honda hasn't messed up lovely gearing, ground clearance and riding dynamics of the Karizma. Of course I would be removing the fairing and putting either the original one or a round headlamp in place, once the runin period is over.

arrey C`mon guys, i never said i was fast while coming down the mountains, plus i am a experienced rider myself. i do understand when you say that engine braking helps a lot. But at the point i was at crawling speed and i wanted to feel the silence of the moment and hence i switched of the engine.
But i agree with all of you who say that never to switch of the engine just to save some fuel. However, since someone pointed out about the wear and tear of brakes, that will happen if the engine is running too. Doesn`t make much difference, Plus i say if you use engine braking you increase the RPM which will effect your FE. On our trip when we had a puncture in rear tyres of one of our bikes, we messed up the rear brakes while putting the wheel on. and this happened at bharathpur camp after baralacha decent going towards sarchu. i drove the bike completely on engine braking and didn`t use much of front brakes since the roads were wet and there was a possibility of skidding off the road incase i use the front brakes. It was difficult to drive since it was dark and very bad roads. Engine braking gives you a lot of control and doesn`t let your rear wheel lock which is a good situation. Would like to also mention, that please don`t switch off the engines downhill if your are in a car. HAHAHA reason: The brakes work by the vacuum created when the engine is running. However, you can do it on old cars who have drum brakes on all the four wheels. Last edited by Abbas Taskeen; 09-07-09 at 07:02 PM. |

Using engine breaking does not increases rpm, also if you are not using engine braking, all the effort would have to be born by the brakes which leads to faster wear and tear. Another thing, if your motorcycle has catalytic converter, running your vehicle without the engine running could damage it.

got this specification from internet.
1) 223cc PGM-Fi engine, expected to produce 21bhp @ 7.5k rpm and 21.5 Nm torque @ 6.5k rpm. 2) the machine would be sporting a full fairing. The full fairing also calls for a liquid cooled engine. 3) Gold colored Engine Theme. 4) Clear front indicators. 5) Fairing mounted RVMs. 6) Split grab rails. 7) Clip-on Handle bars. 9) Gas Reserve Shock rear suspension. 10) It's also being said that for the 2009 version, the Exhaust Silencer of the current version Karizma would be replaced with the Exhaust Silencer of the Hero Honda Hunk with some modifications. 11) There might be no change in the tyre specification, so the 2009 version might still be sporting the 100/90 MRF Zappers. 12) Rear disk brake.
