Avenger 200cc
I just test rode the Avenger 200cc and wanted to get some feedback from others if they have had a chance to ride it.

- The handle seemed too heavy, making the radius of turning slightly bigger than Pulsars or other bikes.
- Power was good but I couldnt go over 100, i.e. at full throttle.

- Horn wasnt that great, older Pulsars have loud horns making them good on tours and indian roads

- The company rep said that the mileage would be about 50 though would seriously doubt it.

Any views please. thanks!!

Its the same frame as the old Avenger. I didn't expect any better

Don't worry, it'll go past 115 comfortably. The Old Avenger did that, but it takes it own sweet time for it

Re: Avenger 200cc
Hi guys,

I have been riding the 200cc avenger for close to 3 months now.No really nagging complaints so far. But i have a problem with the right side rear view mirror. i cant see a damn thing properly in it as the mirror can't be pushed back like the left one as the brake fluid cannister interferes with it. i get a view of about only 10-15 feet back on my normal sitting position & i have to slouch down to look into it to get a full view of the traffic behind... Bajaj should really look into this & set this right...makes riding a bit hazardous...Mileage has been ok @ 33-35 kpl. I miss the kick starter as sometimes it doesnt start for a few mins & u hit panic buttons till it starts. Cleaning the bike too is a bit of a sticky affair as there are too many nooks & crannies & your fingers cant really reach there, but i guess that comes with technology...

Re: Avenger 200cc
I took the avenger 200 on a short trip from bangalore to mysore (about 150 km ). The bike was really good. It handled well. i really didnt test the braking as i didnt have to brake very hard at any moment. The bike touched 100 without any grunting. And it felt steady which was very reassuring. One problem i had was the right rear view mirror. i really felt hampered by the short vision it provides. i am seriously thinking of raising the handlebar a bit up to make up for this. Because on the highway i couldnt know a vehicle was behind me till either it honked when next to me or overtook me. Another problem was that this highway had a lane seperators painted on them & each time i went on them i felt the bike move ever so slightly that i was slightly scared to go on them when cornering. And the mileage wasnt all that more. i got around 36 kpl. And my girlfriend complained of the back seat not being too comforatable after about 1 hour of riding. Other than that bike purred like a kitten on the highway. No other complaints.

most stock seats in india need a good dose of foam injection for decent self/pillion comfort.

Hi Prem

Read your comments on the Bangalore-Mysore trip on your Avy 200. I recently purchased a blue Avy 200 too. Snaps are also available on this forum or at http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/vsg12777.

I have raised my handlebar a bit and the vision on both the rear view mirrors is now fine. However I find that at speeds above 60kmph the vision on both the mirrors is blurred. I don't know why. Is it that vibrations are being transmitted directly to the mirrors and the holders ? Is the damping not that good ?

I never had this problem on my 2001 model CBZ. I have done speeds of 85-90 kmph on that bike and even at those speeds, the image on the mirrors used to be very clear.

But on the Avenger, I find that this is the problem. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this problem ?

Re: Avenger 200cc
A good friend has the Avenger 200cc and I would say the stock bike is very good.

It is definitely powerful (Kamshet slopes success ) and the only cribbing I do is lack of kick start- I mean a motorcycle with no kick - We bikers (or maybe especially Bulleteers) get a kick out of kick-starting.

He had asked the dealer if he could add kick start after market but found it is simply impossible (well of course its not like an ES kit na ??? )

Some others find the low height a problem due to their own tall legs. But that's a non-issue in my mind - you would have to be well over 6 feet to complain about low height bikes.

I would say Avenger 200cc is a good cruiser and a worthy competitor. As for my personal choice I can't possible imagine owning a bike without kick start.

People have assured there is no problems with Bajaj electric start.
Like Darthvader (anup) assured me yesterday citing the example of DarthLucifer's Pulsar - he had done Leh Ladakh with electric start and no issues. So I guess it is reliable.

Re: Avenger 200cc
Udey even though electric starters on Bajaj bikes make a lot of racket, they work pretty well. In past 6 years, I have used the kick start less than 200 times and that too mostly because I just wanted to use it!

Hi Yogesh

Like I mentioned in my previous message in this thread, I find that at speeds above 60kmph the vision/image on both the mirrors on my Avenger 200 is blurred. I don't know why. Is it that vibrations are being transmitted directly to the mirrors and the holders ? Is the damping not that good ?

As of now, I seem to be getting around 35kmpl mileage, since I just filled up the tank again today. 1st time I filled it was on 27 March 2008 just after taking delivery. I have done around 400 kms till date. Is this mileage ok for this bike ? I would like to mention that I have been doing some spirited riding now and then, due to the extra acceleration provided by the K&N air filter.

Look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks.

Warm regards,
Venkat

Re: Avenger 200cc
@ VGS -- hello bhaiya i think you are talking about two diffrent type to bike and trying to compair both ( CBZ it is a street bike and thus not a Crusier ie Avenger) thus the forks and the front end of the bike works and reacts in a diffrent way but then the problem you are facing is very real with the bike as the front tyre of the bike is to thin and then the fork is at such an angle that it is not very helpful in giving the dampning as the lean angle is so less that they are very responsive to the tyre rolling on the turf specially at high speeds .... have you noticed that turning your bike at high speeds you can actually feel the front tyre vibrations on the handle. and the other reason would be the adjustment you made than the factory fiting of the handle to raise the bars would also add on to ii
Eg try a drill machine and try drilling it at an angle of 90degree to the surface you are drilling and then try drilling the same but this time try to drill the surface keeping the drill at an angle you would surely know how the dampening part on the bike is related to the folks and also the angle and also when u drill using a thick drilling rod than a slim drilling rod it is diffrent thus brother.
I hope i made the myself clear i am not a master in these things but then some things i have observed after some rides done on diffrent bikes.
