Good that you are running it pretty nicely. Just wait for the bull to complete around 2k kms with a couple of more services and she make you feel like the king on the road. There might be some vibrations which you might want to tell the service folks to tighten the tappets. |

Does anyone out there have any contact with RE:
I have been emailing them at Chennai and getting absolutely no response at all! Do you have any direct email address for anyone you can recommend there to answer my queries? I am out of the country so it is difficult to call, but I am not impressed with their service that is for sure! Any suggestions! Thanks |

Hi schitre05,
congrats on your new buy. its an absolute gorgeous lady. I own the same one (even the color )....after almost an year of ownership & 18k on the odometer, i just salute the RE engineers to make such a wonderful mean machine. I use it for my daily commute and long trips too. Btw, mine is called "TITLI"Just a few suggestions from my end. 1. Wait for the engine to open up on its own for the 1st 500km....don't take it beyond 50kph 2. As soon as u get the 1st service done at 500km, get everything checked as mentioned in the service book & don't let any of the line items mentioned left. 3. Now you should get into the 0-60-40 ritual as mentioned by Predator. Once your odo reads 800km, start doing 0-70-40 thing. And once you cross 1000, do the 0-80-50ritual. All through this, make sure all five gears get their part of work. This ensures that your gearbox gets smooth and engages at the right time. This further gives the piston some good amount of running & time to smoothen up. 4. Don't break the 80kph mark until you touch 1500km and get a mid-service check-up done. By this time, you might experience some amount of slackness in your chain and also the rear breaks. Check your rear brakes for any kind of wear & tear. Another thing to ensure is smooth, regular use of both the brakes simultaneously while braking. Get all nuts & screws checked & tightened. This is also the time you might want to upgrade your stock horns. I would suggest go in for the Bosch horns costing around 800INR which you can get fitted from the RE shwrm. 4. Now, you are with your true evergreen babe. Rev her to do 100 and I bet you wld be tempted to go beyond as it still would have a lot of juice to offer. But the point is to understand "Whether the Juice is worth the Squeeze". Just try not to go beyond 100 until your odo reads 3k kms. 5. At 3k kms you have your 3rd service done and you are a free bird.... Niways, that I think was a lot of gyan on TBTS. But i bet every word of mine. My TITLI does 125kph with quite a ease and gives me an economy of 45-48kpl (with in city) and 47-50kpl (on highway). I'm really pleased with her. Another word of advice, don't treat her as a GF. But as a faithful wife with all love & affection and I bet you would have a gr8 time with her. Or else you know, what havoc a nagging wife can bring in.... Anyways, SAFE RIDING & KEEP THUMPING Saurav Last edited by Thumping Soul; 17-01-10 at 10:14 PM. Reason: smiley |

I do know quite a few folks at the RE, one of them being the Service Manger for NCR. You can let me know your concern and I would try to get you in touch with him. Believe me, RE is trying really hard to take its service levels higher. But its jst a few dealers who fail them time & again. |

Throw some light on the mileage part. I also own a TBTS, almost a year old and done 17800 kms. Regular commutation and long rides both are in my Maaya only. I did not get mileage of more than 40 in the beginning stages and now I am getting 36 - 37 within city and similar mileage on highways too. I normally don't rev it too hard and I change gears at appropriate RPMs. My city speed limits are around 45 and 50. Highways never crossed 100 but maintain speed between 80 and 100. So if I can get a mileage of 42 43 I will be more than happy. Are you sure that you are getting a mileage of 47 - 48 KMPL

@ Shankar
I ensure that i tank-in "from-reserve-to-reserve" which gives me an almost perfect picture of the mileage. About city riding, i can understand lower mileages due to heavier traffic condition. As in if i ride in Delhi traffic at times it drops to 38-40. But here in GGN, where my general commute is like 5km home-to-office & back, i clock these figures. This route is generally free of much traffic & i do a comfy 50-60kph On highways, try to rev ur engine on the complete band of it. When you start cruising in your 5th gear, try to keep ur engine at around 3500rpm mark. This is the most ideal point for the engine. Again it depends on the road conditions, clutch usage & frequency of chekcs. Ensure proper lubrication of parts. Moreover, try to find out which engine oil are you using. Engine oils too affect the performance and if you are in Delhi/NCR we can meet up any time to share some more gyan over some glasses.... |
