Electra 5s modifications
Hi All,

I have finally saved enough money to fulfill my childhood dream of buying a Royal Enfield.
I am going to buy the new ELECTRA 5S. I want to know if I can perform some modifications on it so that it looks like the Interceptor 750.

I dont know much about bikes technically so I want to know if these changes are possbile and how will it affect the bike.

- Can we reduce the distance between the rear tyre and the rear mud guard. I dont mind getting a custom made rear mud guard made.
- Remove the stock seat and make a flat seat which will furthur reduce the height.
- Changing the stock handle bar.
- Remove the stock 19 inch rear tyre and put an 18inch wider rear tyre.
- Will the new 18 inch rear tyre fit on the stock rim of 19inch ?

The end result should look something like this:

Thanks Akshay!!
My Dad gave me the same reaction..
But I guess I like the Interceptor looks more than the current RE models.

Will these changes in any way affect the dynamics of the mobike??

You would have to change the rim to a 18" one to fit the 18" tyre.

- Remove the stock seat and make a flat seat which will furthur reduce the height. Better keep the original one, it would be more comfortable!
- Changing the stock handle bar. That's easy, lots of RE owners do that!
- Remove the stock 19 inch rear tyre and put an 18inch wider rear tyre. Can be done but using a wider tyre would reduce the mileage by a bit, not suggestable!
- Will the new 18 inch rear tyre fit on the stock rim of 19inch ? Refer to YS's reply

My answers are in bold, I am getting a feeling that either you are trying to get a Cruiser kind of bike or else you are short heighted?

Re: Electra 5s modifications
Thanks Prasham.

I dont go on long rides frequently so I am not looking for a cruiser.. I am 5.7 so height is not a problem as such..
its just that I love the way Interceptor 750 looks. So these changes which I want to make will make the Electra look more or less like the Interceptor.
