Question Re: The Headlight thread: Brighter, Stronger...!

hello guys... as this thread suggests....

i have gone through the stator coil and bulb headlight upgrade and found it quite good....

but still i am not saisfied....

well what i was thinking of now is....

i have
OSRAM NIGHTBREAKER bulb(extra)..

after reading a lot of threads and doing some googling... i have come to a conclusion...

i would be buying a PIAGGO pickup headlamps or TATA ACE headlamps.
fix the night breaker bulb with a H4 type bulb wire harness and connect it to a Dimmer Switch(this switch will help me to switch between low and high beam) the dimmer switch will draw power directly from the battery.

thus this extra bulb of 55W will draw power directly from the battery and i will have a extra headlamp...

what say guys...

i feel this is fesable... i wll start working on this...

i have found the H4 type bulb harness.....

please throw some light if i am going some where wrong......

well the bike is pulsar 200

Or you can simply get an extra spot lamp installed, Got the spot lamp fitted on my Pulsar 180 | Yogesh Sarkar's Blog

Hey, what is this 'dimmer' switch that draws power from the battery?
No switch draws any power from anywhere! A switch simply switches!

+1 to Anup Sir and add to that, I have personally noticed that when I run my spot lamp and headlight, there is noticeable load on the engine, especially while doing 80+.

Its quite natural once u give load to the alternator and it give a slight stress to the engine. Even in cars its very evident once u switch on the hl at idle speed. But in ur case, spot wont make mcuh difference as the spot gets power from batt and the batt gets the juice from a puny rr which gives only a max of 3A which is negligible compared to the light coil. Try it on idle rpm and check for any rpm drop. Or like u said, try with ur HLs @ 80Kph+ there u'll feel, but on spot

U cant do this like that way, u r going to use the batt to power a 55/60W halogen right? But have u increased the charging rate to support a higher halo? Stock condition, u'll get a max of 10-15 mins of back up from the batt depending on ur batt health. Your stock rr will deliver only a max of 3A which is not sufficient to feed even a 35W HID. I've tried this So u need to change the bike to a DC one and use a higher cap RR to boost the charging rate. And if u r using a rewouded coil, just RR swap and re routing of wiring thru relays are enough. But, remember, the power from the batt should be routed thru a relay else ur swtich will go for a toss within no time. Use the stock switch to power the relays, so no extra switch is required to do mod. Had it been from AC to feed the HL, its ok with the stock switch, but when u draw the power from batt, current is stable almost always, so the risk of arcing contacts are there.

But I've a doubt, for using a Higher watt halo why do u want to convert it to DC man? just for flicker free? 55/60W will be easily managed by a avy/rewounded coil without much stress, I was on a 90/100W with rewounded coil for 2 years without any issues, later changed to DC once I got the HID and projectors are the latest addition.
