How and where to buy a Bullet.
Greetings and Salutations from the South Pacific.
My Name is Peter and I am planning a trip to Ladahk this September (last year it was France and Spain).
I am very keen to purchase a Bullet 500 to tour and export to NZ where I live.
My traveling companions are going to rent their bikes.
I would appreciate advice as to where and how to buy a bike in Delhi.
Currently I own a BMW K75.
Thanks friends.

Re: How and where to buy a Bullet.
Do you have RT model? Its alloy wheels are great! Anyways Welcome to the forum and welcome to India.

I don't know if foreigners can buy bikes in India. I know a few have but don't know if it was legal.

Maybe experts of the forum can put some light.

Re: How and where to buy a Bullet.
Peter first thing you need to check is the laws on importing a motorcycle to New Zealand. In majority of the cases, rules for importing a brand new motorcycle is quite stringent and expensive while with 20-30 year old motorcycles is easy because they can be labeled as classics.

Since you are planning to export it back, you need to make sure that you can legally buy a motorcycle in India and get it registered in your name. I have heard Lali Singh (motorcycle renter in Delhi) has helped a few in this process (not 100% sure), here is his phone and email address, try and get in touch with him and get to know the process before jumping into it, +91 11-25728579, 11-25728579, +91 9811114-0161 (m) lallisingh@vsnl.com.

Re: How and where to buy a Bullet.
Great replies. Thanks friends.
Prasham: My BMW is a 'S' model and I love it. It might be old but it suits me just fine.
Shamik and Yogesh: Thanks for the details, I will follow them up. From the research I have done it does seem like a complicated process to export a bike. But I will persevere as I would like to have one.

One more question: I have heard good reports of a Mr Lalli Singh at Inder Motors in Delhi. Would anyone care to comment as to his reliability and ability?
Thanks again.
Safe Riding.

PS My User Name was supposed to be Flying Kiwi and I did not notice I had made a typo and could not re-enter the BMCT site. Now I am stuck with Klying Kiwi. Such is life.

Peter I have heard good things about him, but since I haven't personally used his service, can't really say for sure.
