Default oil drinking issues with Bajaj Avenger 180

Hi guys,

I own Bajaj Avenger 180 and it has completed 30000 KMs, I am Planning for Leh trip in early august, I have few questions regarding my bike.

1. Since last 2 months I am observing that My bike is drinking to much of oil, for example I have to top up 500 ml oil every 1500 Kms. Is it ok? what should be the consumption of oil during normal life of engine?

2. Is it advisable to change tyres before my trip, Both the tyres are in cood condition, front one was replace before 15000 KM and rear one was never changed in 30000 kms. threading on both the tyres are ok. depth is almost 40% with compare to original tyres.

3. I am also facing a little bit problem with bike pick up and power, Is it advisabe to change clutch plates also? it's never change in this 30000 KMs.

I have visited one of bajaj showroom today and and the guy was giving me estimate of Rs 7000 for changing piston block and clutch plates? I found it on higher side, Pls comment.

Thanks and Regards,
Atit

Drinking oil?do you find smoke being emitted from the silencer?
If yes,Piston rings are shot.

Does the bike jerk/shudder at low speeds when you release the clutch?
Again, clutch plates are worn out.Replace them, shouldn't cost much.

As of now no smoke from bike. and it's running perfectly. don't know the reason why it's drinking so much of oil?

Get the valves checked. If they are leaked then the bike will drink oil.My fiero also had this same problem, the bike use to drink oil but no smoke from silencer.Replaced valves & piston rings & everything is running fine,Thank God.

At least a 1000kms would be good, though make sure you get the oil changed after 500kms
