Can somebody tell me which was the year in which Royal Enfield discontinued the 500cc std. model in India? Since I'll be buying a used bike in a few months I wanted to know which will be the latest model of the RE 500 Std. available in the "second hand" motorbike market.

And also.... in which year did the company start selling this model with the option of factory fitted Front disk brake?

Any tips regarding such a purchase will also be greatly appreciated.

Bullet 500std was discontinued in April, Royal Enfield 500: end of line or a new lease of life?

If I remember correctly, before it was discontinued, it was coming with disc brake and electric start (not entirely sure about ES) as standard equipment.

The last of 500s came with standard self-start and disc brakes, they were last gen cast iron 500s and then the first gen AVL 500s.

Bullet standard as yogesh pointed out was stopped in april 2007 , exactly after 9 months from me purchasing. i.e. August 2006. There were two models - standard and fully loaded. Fully loaded 500 cc came with self starter and disk brakes. Costed me Rs. 99750 on road. within 3 months was raised to Rs. 105,000. only to be discontinued.

Machismo 500 was launched as AVL fully loaded bike in 2nd half of 2007.
