Suggestions Plz
Hi guyz. I need ur help here. I used 2 ve 2 bikes, one ws th good old Calibre frm Bajaj n th other one ws th gr8 Pulsar 180 DTSi. Unfortunately both bikes r nw on indefinite loan 2 complete strangers who ve taken them without my permission So at present I'm riding a scooter which they wnt even tch if I leave it without lock on th streets. But this month I wl b shifting 2 a new apartment with lots of security so I am thinking of buying a new bike. Now my question is which bike shd I go 4?

Why I'm asking this? Cz I'm going 2 start biking in th Himalayas with this one and since I ve nt dn that ever, I'm nt sure which model n make shd I go 4? Hero Honda karizma or Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi or th good old Royal Enfield in new avatar? Plz suggest me which one is th most appropriate 4 rough terrains that I am going 2 face in th Himalayas? And when I start going thr u can b rest assured that I wl nt stop until I reach th very top. So all th experts here who has dn biking in th Himalayas numerous times plz help me n suggest which one should I buy considering all th parameters viz, endurance, riding comfort, dependability, easy spares, mileage n many more. I am counting on u on this one since very soon i'm going 2 join u in all th future expeditions that u plan 2 set out............

Re: Suggestions Plz
zma has beter suspension both for on n off road.
zma has better cruisability, i guess only 500lb may ve more...u will need dat considerin u will ride from kolkata
more options of tyres in zma,
tubeless are direct plonk in, u need to have alloys in bull for it
with bullet learn to do basic fixin work, atleast i ve not seen any major issues with zma

spare parts are costly in zma n sometimes not easily available
zma has more plastic so damage on fall is more
luggage carryin capacity of bullet is more as u have the options of panniers.

rest zma/220/RE owners can guide you better.

Re: Suggestions Plz
Abhi incase you have a touring partner i would recommend an enfield since it has space for two along with luggage...else go for zma/P200

Re: Suggestions Plz
I own a Pulsar 220 and have been to Laddakh on it. The bike performed brilliantly with very amazing mileage figures.
I would highly recommend a 220/ZMA.

But before you take the decision to buy a 220 please be very sure as the bike is moody and may or may not develop major snags.

Re: Suggestions Plz
It very well can, there are hundreds of people who have reported weirdest of incidences on a 220. Only they know the truth about it.

But more than 20 of the BCM members were witness to the 220 reaching K-Top and then followed by 12000kms of hassle free run.

Even after this I advice people to be cautious before buying a 220.

Re: Suggestions Plz
Abhi please refrain from using sms language as it is difficult to understand for every one and is also against forum rules.

As for which motorcycle to go for, personally I would recommend Karizma because it is reliable and has a nice relaxed engine. Like sans4ever said, if you have a travel partner, then Bullet would be much better because it will provide more space for the pillion and luggage.

Re: Suggestions Plz
Karizma for low end torque, performance, reliability and ride quality but dont expect more than 32-35 kmpl.

Cheers,
Shamik
