Default What makes a Motorcycle a Touring Motorcycle?

If you were to buy a motorcycle for touring, what are the qualities you would look for? A particular style, way power is delivered, ergonomics, the image of that motorcycle among other tourers, what exactly makes you look at a motorcycle and say wow this is perfect for touring.

good ones...

i'd like to add:
- 2 extra halogen lights on crashguard and powerful main headlamp
- if in india, a good loud horn
- longer suspension
- puncture resistant tyres (liquid sealant will suffice!)
- 2 Cramster COLT Side-Saddlebags and 1 Cramster Turtle Magnetic Tankbag!!!
- good RVMs
.
.
.
w8 4 more to come

Manik already missing 18inch wheels ? In a way its true, I think 17-18inch rear wheel and 19-21 front would be great for offroad riding wht do you think?

Sachin you are right about headlight, with the oncoming traffic we can hardly see any thing. At times it becomes quite dangerous especially on the single lane road.

Powerful horn well that?s an essential part

Agree with the rest as well.

What?s next in your list?

Speedbuster tires are important however according to the terrain have to be changed. Right now most of the tyre companies in India are paying more attention to life of the tyre and most of the importers import tyres that look good. What do you think?

some things i did to make my zma a better tourer

1) tubeless tyres 110\90\18 rear and 90\90\18 front

2) philips crystal vision 60\55 headlight bulb

3) powerful hella windtone horns

it cruises quite well at 100-105km\hr
currently im lookin fwd to changing the frnt sprocket from 13 teeth to 14 teeth for even better crusing speeds on highways
