right... Internet Relay Chat.
Its a live chat room. People from the community or outside, join the channel (synonymously called chat rooms in yahoo) and talk about stuff..

If you have ever used mIRC you'll know.

it comes with a slight learning curve for the admins... but nevertheless its an excellent form of communication (though many offices would discourage using it and have the specific ports for this blocked)

The question here is how many are willing to use it? I can help in setting it up if Yogesh agrees.

Re: BCMT on IRC
In most IT companies, they might just give you a warning or even throw you out if you expose their private network to IRC. Majority of webhosts and IT companies see it as a major security issue.

Throwing them out is too far fetched! Those who don't want people to use IRC just block it on their firewalls. And they don't throw you out just because you use it.. only if you have done something foolish they do.

BTW, going by what you said, a company can even throw you out for clicking that link in the spam email! But that never happens. All that is expected is to act responsibly.
