What nonsense man. In chaos lies opportunity.
In India, you can manage a decent working lifestyle with some ingenuity and make better off money than alot more compared to several countries.
For the masses yes, I can see why being an average Joe in Germany is infinitely more fun than in India.
But you can be smart and make money, and use the labor force well. Then emigrate
Though fully +1 to whatever you said.

Tanveer, I see why and what you are 'waiting' for.
And yes there will be many who will oblige!
I, for one, am in complete agreement with what you have written.
Strange thing is, I can say all that, (as you have done), without feeling absence of 'patriotism' on my part. Matter of fact, as it were.
But, to be sure, the vast majority of our educated & literate elite will immediately accuse me of complete lack of patriotism!
Just one more example of the misplaced concept of patriotism that this great nation somehow manages to teach!
Till the time we can acknowledge our ills and shortcomings, no rectification can begin. But try explaining that to our esteemed literati!

I will just say one thing - its better to be rich in a poor country than to be poor in a rich country!
I was sitting in my house, overlooking my bike and my car and having them washed, talking on my cellphone and telling my boss- I will be late (and you just can not fire me like that - even if you do, this is my country and I can find a new job anytime I want), and then honked my way to office after a nice home cooked breakfast....
I then come to America....
I am struggling to talk on a cellphone becos there is hardly ever a proper signal, I was riding a cycle in snow and Hummers were passing me and skipping meals to save money...and I can not tell my boss I will be late becos he can fire me at will.
Jokes apart, in India lies opportunity. People pay money to get out of chaos. Phones in India sucked but then cellphones changed everything and look at Bharti - one of the largest telecom players in the world, we consume way less energy and have used sustainable practices for ages which the western world is just discovering now. Do you know, fresh, unpasteurised milk sells at a premium! Go figure!
As for false sense of patriotism, every country feels more more comfortable in false sense of it. Its human nature. Its the easiest thing to do. An average Joe would rather whine and cry rather than try to make a difference.

Exactly Anup. I don't need to sit and sing the anthem to show I am patriotic.
People here wear flags on 15th August and then litter the streets with same flags.
They will sing Vande Matram and yet throw junk on the roads.
Go to any hill station, polythene everywhere.
And when you show these idiots the mirror they will cry wolf and say you attacked my mahan bharat
BTW the thread got yanked

Here's a pic of the road near our favourite hotel near Kufri, Shimla:
Maybe, as a travel forum, we should start a thread on such pics. Will help in some small way ........
perchance ......
'thread got yanked' ...??
Why? Whodunnit?!
The same literati I just spoke of?

Re: I think I started a Thermo-nuclear flame war
I think in these situations i guess we can pic either side and debate till eternity.
To speak for: yeah its frustrating every corner. Rules end at the discretion of the local pandu. Doctors dont allow ppl to get medicines directly from WholeSellers. The want you to pay the hospital thier share. Layers fees includes all the money to be bribed to n number of ppl. You get into any hassle even if not your fault, there goes your time, effort and money down the drain. Yeah i feel the need to get out of here.
To speak against: Have we done enough for the country? Paying taxes and being law abiding citizens is just not enough, compared to the people who have and will be giving their life for the same sorry country of ours.

Re: I think I started a Thermo-nuclear flame war
Tanveer, if your post has been 'compromised' by that forum, how about posting the original here?
Otherwise, with the link not working, people here would be at a loss to understand what this thread is about.

Kindly enlighten us on what it is that we have all been failing to do.
being an essentially/innately law abiding citizen, I have come to nearly the end of my days in trying to figure out what it is that I have FAILED in!!
Can you not see that you are being HAD?
You are being 'brainwashed' by your own dear countrymen into believing that you must contribute from your monthly paypacket for the Bihar flood relief fund!
BTW, how much have you given for that glorious cause? You do not need to answer that. You know what I mean!

And this thread is NOT about debating abilities. It alludes to experiences that EACH of us has had. That goes under the genre of REALITY.
So let us have your experiences from real life.
