On the 2nd Oct.. Bombay Bikers and Bombay Police are arranging for a peace rally headed from Bandra Reclamation till CST.. Starting at 10:00 am or 10:30 am..

Ive registered myself for the rally along with a friend.. Was wondering if anyone is planning to join in?

Last I know is that there are about 53 registered bikers.. I have some details if you guys plan on joining in..

Peace rally?

Not another nonsense ride.

Peace, communal harmony is built in our daily interactions. A one day lip service ride does nothing. Like some gang which spent a day with street kids etc.

Unless you donate money/time regularly, the net impact is zero and a colossal waste of hydrocarbons if nothing else.

Let's face it - charity can be private too.

This is just show of strength by a group. Let's acknowledge it as such than ascribe other gyan.
PS: I've been caustically pooh-poohing any such rides - be it AIDS day, independence day etc etc since eons.

Hitanshu, I really liked your point... By biking on roads, no one is going to gain PEACE.. All that'll be gained is wastage of Fuel, Wastage of time, Noise pollution & Air pollution... Yes, its indeed a strength show off...& Publicity stunt..

Let's face it - charity can be private too.

You mean the same guy who had been requesting books/magazine donations for this particular ride at a foreign touring forum for past year or so and then decided to take those donated English magazines and story books to a government school in Leh?

Personally I feel riding for a cause etc. is just a publicity stunt, if you are actually supportive of a cause then rather than doing a long distance ride to some where, parading around a city or taking magazines and books to a school where majority of the student might not be able to properly under stand and read them, it is much better to take a holiday from work and volunteer for a charity and help them in their day to day operations or donate the money you have been saving for the ride.

Rest is just a publicity stunt and feel good initiative that rarely helps anyone or actually brings the issue to the forefront.

Take it easy guys.. publicity is just a part of everything.. why take a trip and then publish your photos all over the net? Isn't your trip just for yourself?

If we had more open minded people.. then instead of 50 registered riders for this rally..there would have been a higher number.. but NO.. We can cry for peace on all forums.. but discriminate some rally for peace..

Anyways.. tomorrow happens to be 2oct.. Gandhi Jayanti.. Peace is not something I am really concerned about.. but just excited that on such a day.. there are people still taking an initiative.. And IMPO nothing could be more apt than a Peace rally on Gandhi Jayanti..

@Sandeep.. The rally starts tomorrow morning.. at 9:30 in the morning from Bandra Reclamation till CST via Mantralay and all that..

Tonight is just the Test ride.. same route.. starting at 10:00.. I would have taken you along but I already have a pillion friend.. My suggestion would be to just come over there.. Many riders so your definitely going to find a ride..

Registration is Rs. 300 for non members.. (yeah.. start again.. peace rally.. but whats the need for money and all that..)...

I feel.. if this same event was carried out by some NGO.. then the take on this would be different.. doesn't really matter..

What matters most is taking the step.. Be it at home, personal charity.. volunteer work.. or organising an event to spread a common message.. they all mean the same thing.. just different ways..
