My Acer monitor has finally gone bust after serving me loyally for 9 years.

I need to urgently get a replacement. So please enlighten me on TFTs and where I can get the best deal in NCR. The budget is 10K.

For 10k, you should get a 19" Dell LCD monitor with 3 year warranty. These days these are also available at shops in Nehru Place, so you don't have to order online, unless you want to.

My old 17' CRT Dell monitor is a trinitron from those days!

No idea, last I heard they were sourcing from the same place which supplied panels to Apple.

Check www.npithub.com for approximate prices, best buy would be Sony IMO anyways Samsung or LG is good too.

Should be able to get a full Black 19" Samsung monitor under 10k; picked up one at Nehru Place a couple of months back. Not 100% sure of the model number offhand (old age), I think it was 943NWX. It has feather touch buttons & a very glossy finish.

Also has an amazing display.

EDIT: Just reconfirmed with my daughter - it is 943NWX

I was also on LCD monitor buying spree week back..I have been to almost all the showrooms and dealers in Surat including Croma types.
I checked following models

Dell 19" - wide screen which generally retails around 9.5-9.8K
Various Viewsonic models - VX1940 is best in widescreen(3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time)
Some Samsungs

but I did not like wide screen displays.I like normal 4:3 aspect ratio screen.So,
I finally I bought LG L1960TR..(5000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time,Analog as well as DVI port)
I got nice deal of 10200/- for this LCD..You can expect it to be retails around 11K,but its completely worth it..


So my suggestions
In Widescreen go for ViewSonic VX1940
In Normal go for LG L1960TR.
I have heard many praises for dell on online forums but I found it very dull compared to others specially the 2 models I mentioned above.I could not find Dell UltraSharp model anywhere so can not comment on that but normal Dell is not that much good.

I too was living under the same notion, untill I got my hands on a 22" TFT !

Well for photo editing and graphic design, CRT is still better.
